Great and Accurate
This meter has an excellent build quality. Especially in the PCB side the components used are smd with high standards. The soldering are State of the art reflecting the stringent quality measures usually carried out in the production of Japanese products. For all the ranges the reading was very accurate particularly in the 30ma range I was getting an almost equal reading to Dmm while measuring very low current through an LED which consumes power in the milliwatts range. In the battery testing mode this meter possess a low input impedance and this was a blessing while checking faulty batteries that would otherwise confuse by giving the full open circuit voltage like in a DMM.Without a second thought for sure one can go with this meter in this price range.

A high-quality product well worth the modest price
This is a professional tool, made in JAPAN, and it is far, FAR superior to the cheap, disposable junk now sold in big-box hardware stores. I've been through two Gardner-Bender units in thirteen months--the first one was D.O.A. when I got it home from the store; the second blew out shortly after the one-year guarantee had expired.I bought my first multimeter in 1971 when I was a mechanic at a motorcycle dealership in New York City. It was a Kawasaki-branded 'shop tool' and it lasted over FIFTY YEARS before 'pilot error' caused a resistor to fry. Unfortunately, the markings on the resistor burned beyond recognition, so there was no way to know what value to use when replacing it since I had lost the schematic that came with it years ago....This Hioki meter is the first one I've seen since my old one died that looks, acts, and 'feels' like a REAL tool, instead of a disposable plastic toy.

Much more robust than I thought it would be
Exactly what I was looking for. Case is unusually nice and doubles as a stand. Not the most feature packed but works well and just as accurate. Easy to calibrate and use. The one minor feature it could use is the the mirror backing for the readout dial. The dial cover looks to be exceptionally thick and sturdy and gives the appearance that justifies the extra cost etc. Numbers alone do not tell the whole story as in digital meters. Seeing a relationship between the increments combined with speed and value can tell you more about the object you are testing. Give me an analogue watch to read over one that flips numbers any day.

Great Analog Multimeter 60 µA and 300mV ranges for DC
Was looking for a well built affordable analog multimeter. The unit is very well built, a bit lighter than I expected. The plastic case is a bit thin, but it does the job to protect the multimeter. The unit has a great size, big enough for good reading, but adequate for portability. It has a great range for DC current (60 µA/30 m/300 mA) and for DC voltages (0.3/3/12/30/120/300/600 V). Keep in mind that the Battery Check 1.5V has a lower resistive load (10 Ω) for measurements under load.Compared to units that cost hundreds more, the only limitations I see are the 600V maximum (some of those units are 1000V) and the maximum range for resistance at 3 kΩ x 1K = 3MΩ (some of those units are 20MΩ).For the price available, this is an excellent Analog Multimeter and value from a reputable company and made in Japan.
