Q: Why doesn't the mfr specify the height range...it is the most important dimension. I cannot buy without it.

The height range is 12" to 20", we use it at 18". The person who uses it is 6'2". It is a great bench, very easily adjusted, up or down. I hope this information helps.

The seat does not fold for storage. I just stored it in the tub and kept the shower curtain closed. Anyone who didn't use it put it on the floor while showering and then back in the tub when done.

I am sure it will work very well in a shower stall. We use our in a standard bathtub, fits perfectly. I am sure it will work in a shower stall.
