VRS DESIGN Polycarbonate Poly Carbonate Terra Guard Semi-Auto Hinge Protective Cover Case Compatible For Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G 2021 (Black)

So I initially reviewed another case from VRS Design that was called their "Hard Drop" series and was a BIG fan of it especially since they were offering well constructed cases only about 2 to 3 weeks after the FOLD 3 launch! I recently found out they announced this Terra Guard case so it immediately caught my attention and I finally received it to give you another full extensive review!*This will be a semi-lengthy review as I like to really breakdown the product so that you can make a confident decision if this case will work out for you or not! I'm a pretty techy/nerdy person by nature so expect a full/ HONEST review! I took a lot of photos that will reference back to what I have to say so check them out :) and With that out of the way, lets get started!*(The Short Answer)I REALLY do love this case as it shares many of the same features as their previous line up! You get the raised borders so that the face and cameras never make contact with a hard surface (whether your laying it flat or accidentally drop your phone), the two layers of protection for added coverage, and the most important addition this Terra Guard case features: the hinge guard! Of course, no case is perfect and I did find some minor notes to this new line up which I will address shortly!*Protection/Case Size*We all look to cases to protect our investment (especially for a phone that retails close to $2000) and the Terra Guard case, like its brothers, does the job exceptionally well! I reference the Otter Box symmetry line up as a close competitor because of how similar they are built: they both share a robust plastic outer shell and then a very durable silicon inner layer (You actually get a slightly thicker inner layer of silicon compared to its predecessors so first PLUS there)! The cutouts do not compromise any of the active areas on your phone so volume buttons/ power/ typing/ texting are still easily accessible and you should not experience any trouble trying to attach your charging cable to the bottom port! Now the Fold 3, by nature, is a pretty large phone and adding this case to it will only enhance that so if you're not a fan of big cases, take it as you will. This will be one of those few points that really come down to personal preference. I have average sized hands (as you can see in the photos) and it fits pretty nicely in my palm! In all, even though more cases for the FOLD 3 continue to populate the market, this WILL be my to go to for Overall Protection!*THE HINGE COVER*The addition of the hinge plate is, in my opinion, what most people will buy this case for. Its an added benefit to protect your investment and surprisingly, functions as intended! When the phone is compressed (folded close) and without a case, the FOLD 3 hinge is slippery and physically makes the phone slimmer in the hand. With this case, the hinge acts as another point of contact now, allowing you to properly grip your phone! I also appreciate that they added a pattern to the hinge cover because it promotes better contact with your hand to the phone (I can't really explain the feeling but your phone doesn't move as much). By introducing this hinge cover to this phone case it also brought an interesting aspect I didn't expect to run into BUT when your phone is unfolded (in tablet mode) you can't lay it flat on its back anymore (I took a picture to demonstrate it). In my 2 months of owning the FOLD 3, never have I once laid the phone unfolded and on a flat surface but I'm sure there is a small percentage of people who might do that so it was worth mentioning in this review!*NO TAPE NEEDED!*You should NEVER have to use double sided tape to attach a case to your phone! I applaud VRS Design for finding a way to allow this case to just pop right in and still stay VERY securely onto my device! They still provide double sided tape if you want to use it so I will be appreciative of that!*Design*This comes down to personal taste but another feature that drew my attention to this case was the design! We don't buy cases simply for looks... BUT they do help assist in making those executive decisions! I would be lying to you if I said I didn't get this case because of its appearance. Not everyone will find this design attractive but it took the cake for me!*CONCLUSION*This being my second case from the VRS Design team, I am extremely happy with the purchase! I would confidently say if you gotten to this closing statement of my review and so far have agreed with a lot of the points I have addressed, LOOK NO FURTHER and go with this case :) I know that if I run into any accidents or whatever curve ball Life wants to throw at me, this case is ready for the challenge!

I already own the Spigen Slim Armor Pro and wanted to have another case as a backup. I thought this case would fit the bill, and it does, but it has some pros and cons compared to the Spigen.What I like:-I feel like the case its thicker on the edges than Spigen which is a good thing for drop protection.-I like how the case gives you good access to both screens, yet has good protection.What I don't like-The hinge is a lot more flimsy compared to Spigen Slim Armor Pro, you can feel it flex easily. It's held by silicone or rubber clips.-When you open the phone, the hinge partly covers the front screen. So when you use the cover screen preview feature on the phone, the hinge covers part of the front screen preview.- The side plastics material and hinge is less "grippy" than the Spigen- When you grip this phone with the VRS case, you can feel the hinge and plastic material flex, something you don't feel with the Spigen.

Truly the best military style Zfold 3 case you could ask for. The pictures speak for themselves. Makes sense why VRS spent an extra 2 months before releasing this beast of a prototype. Adhensives are not necessary since the case sticks on well. Doesn't fail my expectations a bit, absolutely stunning.

Pretty neat case. Had the vrs design kickstand caze prior to this and did fine but I was looking for a case with hinge protection without being overly expensive. This case does include stickers but they're not necessarily needed. The hinge protector is part of the back piece with magnets attached to it. This helps keep the hinge protector cover the hinge at all times without flapping around. I'm not sure if the magnets touches the hinge since it's difficult to see but it does not leave any scratches on the hinge from repeated opening and closing. Case fits perfectly and wasn't difficult to install. The only minor issue I had with it was the second piece for the smaller screen. Without stickers, upon opening the screen, the hinge protector does push onto the second piece causing it to slide out from the phone screen just a tiny bit. It's very small and at most 1mm. The back piece with the hinge protector is very solid(not moving) without any stickers. Because of the minor sliding, I used two small pieces of the stickers to prevent that. The sliding isn't going to affect the performance of the case since it's only about 1mm but the installation guide did recommend applying stickers. Entirely up to you.

The case is very similar to the Spigen Slim Armor Pro. However it's a bit bulkier and has a better looking design in my opinion. The hinge protector is very creaky and wiggles around a lot, especially if you compare it to the rock solid Slim Armor Pro hinge. My biggest complaint about this case is how it interferes with the spen. If you write horizontal lines across the screen from bottom to top, the pen will leave gaps in your writing along the hinge. I do feel like the rest of the case, aside from the hinge provides better protection then the Spigan Slim Armor Pro, but the hinge is the weakest part of the case, and I do not think it would survive a direct impact from a fall with how much it likes to wiggle around. I think this case is a good alternative for the price to the Slim Armor Pro, however if you enjoy using the spen, I would pass and look into the Slim Armor Pro or other alternatives down the road.
