A must have, messy though.
This works great for a fire block when soldiering. Two concerns, don't overheat it n one spot for to long it will create a simple/crater in it. The good news is over time it will come back into shape. Also it likes to flake particles off just by hand touch picking it up. It can make a mess if this would be a problem for you. That part I don't mind.

Great for Torch firing PMC clay.
This block is great for torch firing PMC Clay's and also for annealing other metals. This is my go to block for so many things.

Doesn't hold up to the Flames🔥
I bought two of the magnesia blocks for soldering and I was very unhappy with how well they held up to the flames from the torch. Both of the blocks got craters after the first use that was caused by the block not able to withstand the intense heat thrown at it. I would not recommend these blocks for soldering.

False Advertising. Not actually magnesia
I ordered this from this seller on ebay. Composition is actually 90% calcium silicate.Does not actually contain any magnesia (magnesium oxide/MgO).
