Simply the best looking grass topped off with best value!
This grass is amazing! First we bought a really expensive bag with coated big blue seeds from HomeDepot - it grew but the bag was around $50 and covered no more than 10 square feet. In addition, the HD modified grass seeds came to be light yellowish green grass, which looks like it's dying, so I am not a big fan. I am happy though that I found the Jonathan Green natural grass! It is dark green and super soft, yet very sturdy! I have become an expert at growing it by now!The first time was unsuccessful. I roughed up the dirt and put the seeds on top, almost all died and left me heart broken! The second attempt I mixed the dirt with the seeds and packed it in holes where I wanted it to grow. And Oh boy, did it grow! But it was too dense. So, my third attempt - I cleaned up two large areas - about 20 square feet each. Removed about about 2" of the top soil and everything that was growing (with a small hoe). Roughed up the dirt and cleaned up roots as best as I could, then put back some soil to fill the hole a little bit. Next, I sprinkled a little bit of the Jonathan Green Heavy Traffic Seeds and the JG Full Sun Seeds in the respective areas. I did not put much seeds, they were not on top of each other and one could see a lot of dirt around them. Then, covered the seeds with organic garden soil that I had bought at Costco. Just a light cover - almost like sprinkle the dirt but I made sure it covered the seeds to keep them moist. I watered daily and started to see seedlings in a week!!! Within 3 weeks my new baby grass had it's first haircut and did not get damaged from lawn mower going over it.My last method is my favorite! Covers a huge amount of area while being conservative with the seeds. The bag is still half full. These seeds are a great value! The key is to keep them moist while they are germinating and maturing. There is one more thing these seeds might do for you - make you proud of your amazing lawn that did not take any poisons to kill anyone!!! Just natural naturally grown beautiful grass!I wish these grass seeds come up higher in the Amazon search. I really had to dig to find it...

Great Grass Seed
Grass started growing by week 2. My dog has torn up our grass from running up and down and created a muddy mess. Grass has already started growing, worth every penny.

No maintenance grass seed for the lazy... like me
I’m not a professional grass grower. I literally something I could throw on the ground and not touch. We live in Southern GA and my husband put this down in our back yard in November. He spread it all over the top of the yard, no watering, no tilling, no hay. We have VERY sandy soil as you can see in the photos. We’ve had on and off warm, rainy and frosting conditions over the last several weeks. We also have 2 dogs that run around the yard and play fetch multiple times a day as well as kids playing in the yard, (hence, why we have no grass.)This seed did fairly well. It’s a 5 for no maintenance. It did root and grow. Now, it grew in patchy, and some of the seeds didn’t grow at all. In fact, they’re still on top of the soil. It did grow in decent patches, though, and the grass blades are decently thick and very green. As you can see it’s even coming up through the leaves that we have not bothered to take at all. The layer of leaves helps keeps the dust from the sand down when the dogs play. Anyway, my yard maintenance notwithstanding, I will definitely buy a few more bags of this as we roll into spring and put it down. For someone who has a very little desire to take care of a yard, in about 3-6 weeks I’ve grown grass. I don’t care if my husband put it down, I watched it happen so I grew it. Don’t judge me. And don’t freak out if it starts to grow and dies, we had some early sprinters that didn’t make it, probably because of the high traffic.

Not one single blade of grass. Very disappointed
I’ve done landscaping for 20 years and the conditions that this grass was planted under were perfect. Consistently watered, warm sunny days, and good soil. After 14 days, there is not one single blade of new grass. I’m am very disappointed and will be pursuing a refund. I wish I could give zero stars or a negative rating. This bunk product should be removed

Great stuff
All I can say is that I’ve used black Beauty for yrs and it’s always superseded my expectations. I’ve tried contractors blend Scott’s Pennington nothing really shines. Yea expensive yes sometimes germinating can take 3 weeks. Likes water but for me always good results. Be careful online sometimes you get old bad seed I buy from landscape distributor.Pic 1 burn. (Fall) Spray with salt n vinegar wait till it dries the cut at lowest setting then burn with propane torch down to the dirt. No tilling add seed then a layer of peat moss compost top soil. Add mor seed the even out.Pic 2 after 3 plus weeks. Water 3 times a day.Pic 3 (spring) after 3 cuts. Have to fill in some small spots but overall very satisfied.

Fairly Low germination rate
This grass seed has been a disappointment from a company I usually have good luck with. I did get some germination but far too little for the amount of seed I used.
