Q: Can the person in the restraint unlock themselves or does it require a nurse?

My mom has slight dementia and becomes anxious at times. She cannot unlock the restraint. However, at times at times if you do not pull the belt as close to the body as possible, she may wiggle and slide and maneuver for hours until she slides under. This is why she has medication before she goes to sleep. Otherwise I could be checking on her throughout the night with minimal sleep and rest. Check with her doctor and nurse team.
