Peugeot - Paris Manual Salt Mill - Adjustable Grinder - Beechwood, Chocolate

I found this here and bought it to match my pepper girder that I bought 10 years ago and they are a percy set and work VERY well.

This is a solid grinder with quality a quality grinding mechanism.

Apparently a decent salt grinder that actually is easy to use and doesn't break is an impossible ask these days. I have no idea why these grinder's are generally so well thought of as it is horrible to use. As one other commenter mentioned, the little screw knob on the top constantly loosens itself as you use it so you either get just dust or either whole pieces of salt fall out a few seconds later. It's so hard to get salt to come out of it consistently that we can't even tell if its stuck or if needs refilling. Also the salt compartment is tiny in this model for the size of it so you have to refill really often. Do not recommend, especially at this price.

Finally.... one that works as it should. I have gotten a million differen S&P grinders and NONE work well. All of these from Peugeot are great.

I'm not sure why it is so hard to find a decent pepper/salt mill these days. I have been using the Costco/Kirkland signature disposable salt grinder for sometime now and have yet to find anything that matches its performance. The click/twist adjustable grinders don't seem to work very well and that is why I avoided the U-select model. There is no need to over complicate a salt grinder.As delivered I would give this model 1/5 stars as the top knurled nut does not stay tightened for any usable period of time. This makes it impossible to get a decent grind as the adjustment changes with each turn.I applied some Loctite 222 (purple, low strength) to fix this issue. Now the knurled adjustment nut stays put and the grinding is acceptable. Still not up to the quality of the Kirkland grinder, but definitely usable.

This pair of mills are probably the best ones I've ever owned. I highly recommend them.

For an expensive salt mill, I'm expecting at least a cardboard box or a hard plastic package. No. it just came in a thin plastic bag and a bubbled envelope. There're a few grains of sea salt inside. I would have thought it's either completely empty, or full of salt. The mill itself doesn't grind very well. The top screw supposed controls the coarseness of the salt by tightening or loosening it. I find the screw loosened with every use. The only pro is it looks very nice.Not very happy with the mill overall.

Over the years I have had mad salt mills. When you add up the dollars, they would easily surpass the cost of this mill. First use was fantastic as it milled the salt with the same grains. Like its pepper counterpart it works fantastic.

Si quieres un molinillo para toda la vida de sal no lo dudes, los peugeot son los mejores. A tener en cuenta, únicamente es de sal ya que el mecanismo es diferente de los de pimienta. No admiten sales humedad tipo flor de sal. Pero si todas las demás, yo tengo con sal Rosa del Himalaya y va perfecto. Muy fino y con acabados de calidad. El tamaño es el adecuado para que sea funcional en la mesa.tiene la S impresa en la parte superior. Es sólo para sal.
