It works great. Takes out the chlorine and it's odor
This is my third purchase. It works great. Takes out the chlorine and it's odor. Leaves your hair and skin feeling good and I have piece of mind that I'm not getting all those chemicals on me. I noticed my eyes don't sting like they use to when showering. Very easy to install. When it became "full" and it was time to change it, there was a white salt like deposit that started seeping out of it that felt like sand under my feet. I now have an extra Berkey filter on hand so I'll be able to change it immediately when it becomes full. It's well worth the money.

Transforms hard Los Angeles tap water so it's tolerable for a New Yorker
This filter literally changed my life. If you are frustrated with cruddy tap water in Los Angeles or any other place with hard tap water, this filter is a miracle worker in filtering out not just chlorine, but hard tap water as well.I recently moved from New York to Los Angeles, and while it might sound like an exaggeration, the hard Los Angeles tap water made my hair dull and crispy, and left my scalp dry and itchy. This was a totally foreign experience for someone who was used to soft, shiny hair after a shower with New York tap water. The tap in my Los Angeles apartment naturally has very hard water, which means that there are minerals that are dissolved into it that make it basic (have a low PH). I learned from doing some online research that low-PH water for some reason makes it difficult for soaps and shampoos to clean and rinse effectively, so my dry hair and itchy scalp were caused by a residue of shampoo that was never getting rinsed off.I am so grateful for this filter. I feel like a human again! By the second shower I took with the filter installed, my hair felt like it was back to New York tap water hair.

Hair went from dry and lackluster to soft and shiny in just a few washes.
I recently moved to a condo in Arlington. Within a few days of moving in, I noticed that my hair seemed especially dry and porous, no matter what expensive conditioner I used on it. I also noticed that my skin became itchy after showering. I also noticed an intermittent sulfurish or chlorine-ish smell coming from the faucets. I mentioned these things to a neighbor and she said that water in the area is very hard--so hard that you can see sediment in water glasses. After conducting some online research, I determined that my sudden hair and skin problems could probably be attributed to the effects of hard water and that the only solutions were to buy a shower filter or water conditioning system. Since I live in a condo, I could only try a shower filter and this one by Berkey was highly recommended by the same neighbor. After just one wash, I could see the difference in my hair--it became soft once again. After a few days, it was nearly back to its previous condition. My house guest also immediately noticed a difference and she has virgin, untreated, healthy hair--unlike me! If you have hard water and you've noticed a negative impact on hair/skin, I strongly recommend trying this filter. You will notice a difference. If you bleach, dye or otherwise chemically treat your hair and you have hard water, then you definitely need a filter like this one to remove chlorine--chlorine strips healthy hair and it really damages chemically treated hair.

the clean water make my hair soft
The Berkey filter in our bathroom is connected to the faucet in one side and to the hand hose in the other. The connection is easy to makeBut since the product has been discontinued, there is no way to refill the filters except to buy the device again

Love this filter!!
I use shower filters all the time as they are so much healthier than using regular water with all the chemicals. A big plus is no itching skin and dry limp hair. The filter I had used for a couple of years, replacing the filter itself when needed, started leaking. Initially, I selected another filter which ran out of stock before I finished my order. Desperate me ordered this item since it would arrive in a couple of days with prime. I already had a low pressure shower head which this company recommends one use with this filter, so I ordered the filter. I started using it right away and right away I could tell the difference in my hair and skin. And the water stopped smelling too! In fact, I've decided I like this filter the best of any I've used to date and so, then, I recommend this filter.

Actual measurements showed it did not work with my water
Did not work with my water. Per the instructions and a call to Berkley, free chlorine reduction may be impacted if chloramines are present in your water. My municipality (Sarasota FL) uses chloramines and the filter did not reduce the chlorine at all. Before filtering on 8/31/15 my water measured 2.0 ppm of free chlorine and 5.5 ppm of chloramines. After going thru the KDSF shower filter the free chlorine was 2.0 ppm and the chloramines were 3.5 ppm. Measurements taken using a Taylor K2006 FAS-DPD water test kit. I recommend that you check your water suppliers website to see what levels of chloramines are present before you order. More water suppliers are using chloramines due to cost savings and EPA regulations. Chloramine is a combination of chlorine and ammonia. It is more stable than chlorine so it stays in the water longer. By products of chlorine and chloramine sanitation can be toxic and carcinogenic.

Best purchase ever
I bought this on amazon since it sold out super fats in the berkey web page.I was kind of scare that it wasn’t going to be the same but is legit. I’m very happy I have the option to buy it from amazon and get the original product. The water with this filter is awesome. Is soft and has no odor, my hair also gets soft and my skin won’t get dry at all.Definitely getting some more as a gift!
