Bottling Sparkling Wine Works Great!
I have been brewing cider at home, and enjoy it... My significant other, however, doesn't like cider. She likes Sparkling Wine! We started our sparkling wine journey with an order of Midwest's Champagne Bottles. 12 bottles worked beautifully, and we were able to brew and bottle all 12 bottles. We are using plastic stoppers and wire cages because we do secondary fermentation (for carbonation) in the bottles. We haven't had one bottle burst, but have had a couple chip. We are pretty careful with the bottles, and love that they fit on a normal wine rack (for aging). We also liked the bottles so much, that we ordered a second box of bottles to allow our sparkling wine to age longer. The bottles are good quality for home brewing, and we can attest that they work great for sparking wine. Highly recommended.

Let’s see facts
I am amazed at the reviews. This bottle is definitely not an ordinary wine bottle.Upon receiving/opening the case of 12 bottles anyone would notice that the bottles are heavy. In fact each bottle is a half pound heavier than a standard ordinary 750 ml wine bottle.I weighed a standard wine bottle as purchased from Amazon, as shown. 1.00 pounds. I weighed one of these 750 ml bottles and it’s 1.52 pounds. Both are 750 ml. The glass surrounds a volume of 750 ml. The extra .52 pounds is the thicker glass. Therefore these are appropriate for sparkling wine. And they arrived in perfect condition. The plint bottom. This bottle is not plint bottomed. It’s flat or straight. I think the plint bottom is more than a sediment trough. Here’s why. All ALL the one gallon Poland Spring jugs have a plint base. It’s a plastic one gallon jug. I think the plint base favorably redistributes shock to the base. If a jug is dropped it’s the circumference of the base that gets hit. With plint the shock is favorably mitigated and lessened. So what. If you can find plint based champagne bottles. Buy them. Reuse them. For now this bottle is available. One last thought. When the base is recessed like a plint, the dimensions of the bottle changed as compared to a flat base. The volume of 750 ml remains the same. Therefore the width or shoulder height or the length of the neck increases. Your flat base bottle will be shorter than a plint base bottle. I like all my bottles to stack exactly the same. The non flat bottle will introduce a stacking variant.Poland Spring one gallon water bottles have a V shaped base and indents for lifting the jug. It’s still one gallon , so all the irregular inserts into the one gallon jug are made up by making the overall plastic bigger. On the shelf in the store it looks like one gallon of Poland Spring is bigger than one gallon of water from a competitor. A marketing ploy.

Nice sturdy bottles
I bottled wine, with a little bit of sugar water for making carbonation. It worked great.

More like a wine bottle with a champagne top
More like a wine bottle with a champagne top, it has a flat bottom, not a dimpled one. not what I was looking for, but it was still usable.
