It does ruin it if machine washed.

Q: What side of the bag is the zip on please? I'm 6ft 1 and was wondering if there is enough room inside to stow any kit?

The zip on mine is on the right. I am 6 ft 3 and found this to be more than roomy.

I wish ppl would give you correct answer if you have never slept in a sleeping bag before it does take time to get used to it ok if you lay on your side because ground is harder your side can deaden if you lay on your tummy your ribs can deaden if you lay on your back your back can go stiff but this all depends on your mat most sleeping bags are comfy and snug I can recommend this bag for season 3 autumn use as for season 4 winter it's ok but below minus 5 you might either want an inner bag or an outer bivvy bag both will add approx ten degrees in winter I wear track suit and long sleeve shirt and I'm warm enough for £25 it's a very good bag you can get same types and pay more or you can buy designer bags for pretentious prices and they are crap what has two way zip to do with comfort I do not know some answers have nothing to do with question hope this was a better answer for you

Same as the outside. It is not cotton lined, just the same silky feel as the outside! Hope this helps.
