Compact Shred Machine
I bought this mostly as an instrument to have about and pick up to noodle around on when I'm watching TV or whatever, and at its small size it fulfils this role perfectly- plug it in though, and you'll be rewarded with a range of very usable sounds from the pair of Ibanez humbuckers and 5-way selector switch, allowing various coil-tapping options which clean up very nicely amid the high gain shred-friendly tones. Whether you're a newer player starting out, a young person or someone with smaller hands/shorter fingers, or just someone who enjoys small instruments, this is a great buy, especially at the price.Only one small negative- the guitar I received has a small dent/divot on the 14th fret- it should be able to be polished out, and it's nothing that would make me send it back, but do check your instrument over for damage when you first unbox it if that sort of thing would be an issue for you.

Small guitars for small people
No doubt there is something toy-ish about a shrunk down RG.However...All things considered, it's a pretty decent guitar for the price. The one I received (not from Amazon, but purchased elsewhere) is a 2021 model, and has a 5-way switch. The set up is a bit high straight out of the box, but it is reasonably in tune and intonated. The frets are ok, no stick outs or sharp bits. There is a glue smear on the fifth fret, but it's not very noticeable and does not affect playing. The neck pocket is cut very tight compared to other Ibanez guitars that I have come across. The pick ups are actually OK too, especially when compared to a Squier that we used to have. Sure, they are not exactly DiMarzios, but be fair, a set of those alone cost about as much as this guitar. We might still do a pick up upgrade on this, probably some Alnico IIs, but, Law Of Diminishing Returns.Considering it's price, is a RG421 or something of the sort twice the guitar this is? No. This little Mikro punches above its weight! Now, if only Schecter would shrink their C1...Edited to add: Okay, so we have opened up the guitar and looked inside the control cavity. The volume pot is VERY small, even though the routing is probably just big enough for a full sized pot. The standard pickups are a 2-wire configuration rather than 4 conductors, those are definitely coming out as they are actually surprisingly low output. There is also a bit of a grounding issue that is going to get fixed.
