Excellent Stainless Steel Water Filter, Very well built. A+ all the way
I researched Stainless Steel water filters for a while before I decided to buy this one. Here are the reasons for purchasing it:1) It has a place to drain the water pressure on the filter canister when it is time to change the filter. This makes it easy to remove the canister nut.2) There is a spring to push the filter up from the bottom. This helps push the filter up tight to the top and bottom for a good fit if the filter purchased is made a little shorter. The down side is you really have to push the canister up to get the nut started on the canister. After installing the filter we can really tell the difference in our well water. The water is a lot better.Be sure to add something to lubricate the stainless steel threads to keep the stainless from galling. You will be glad you did.

Great SS filter housing.
Nice solid filter housing, but mounting bracket is flimsy. However, it's so reasonably priced compared to its' alternatives I would purchase again.

Wow - Very good quality and built like a tank
I don't write a lot of reviews, but this deserves one. Over the years I have replaced about 4 plastic filter housings due to cracking or leaking. I found this one after looking for a better alternative, and I am VERY impressed with the quality, and 100% confident this will never need to be replaced again. It's a little tough to press the hosuing on and get the ring screwed on due to the spring pressure, but do-able. I wish it came with two of the rods used to tighten/loosen the filter ring, but easy to make another one.

Looks nice
Looks nice will need some jell on the seals otherwise it is difficult to tighten and keep from leaking. Works great on my boiler system.

Works Well
This is a hardcore stainless steel filter housing that should work in either cold or hot water applications. It comes with 1" NPT inlet and outlet ports, which is fine if you're using it as a whole house filter, but my intention was to use it as a post filter on my water heater to catch sediment, so I had to purchase a couple of 1" to 3/4" stainless steel bushings for it.I opted to go with stainless steel to filter the hot water heater that feeds my kitchen because it supplies the water that we cook with, and I'd rather avoid the possibility of microplastics leaching from a plastic filter that is constantly exposed to hot water. That being said, plastic filters do not suffer from galvanic corrosion, but stainless steel ones most certainly do. For that reason, I used dielectric nipples to prevent my brass and copper fittings and pipe from directly connecting to the stainless steel filter housing. This is certainly a more costly option than going with a cheaper, plastic filter housing, but I feel that it is well worth the initial investment to go with a more durable material. So far, no issues with leaking and it works incredibly well. I opted to install a 25-micron reusable stainless mesh filter that I can periodically clean and put back if I notice any restriction in water flow.A couple of things to keep in mind...First off, this thing is heavy. It comes with a mounting bracket (which is not particularly great). You can decide whether or not you'd like to use it, but you'll definitely want some additional support for this housing. I wouldn't feel comfortable just letting it hang unsupported from my copper pipe and brass fittings. Also, although the inlet and outlet for the housing are 1" female NPT, the internal bores that lead to and from the filter are closer to 1/2" diameter. That seems very restrictive for something that could be used as a whole house filter and I'd be curious to know if the folks who have installed this as a whole-house filter have experienced any drop in water pressure or flow rate. This is the only reason I decided to award this product a 4-star rating instead of 5; I haven't experienced any other issues with the product.

Premium Filter Housing - Very well desgined and manufactured
This whole house water filter housing is top quality. It is stainless steel that will not leak chemicals into the water. It should last a lifetime, although the O-rings will eventually need replacing. It is well engineered, well manufactured and made with quality materials. I plan to use it as an under the sink filter for drinking (and cooking) water with a dedicated tap. The one I currently have is plastic and so difficult and messy to change filters on that I avoid doing it. It gets stuck and hard to unscrew and spilling, even using a catch basin and towels in inevitable. If not over-tightened it leaks. This unit is well designed. It has a drain valve so that it can be emptied before disassembly, and thus avoid a mess. Rather than twisting the sump, it has a ring coupler and comes with a tool to secure and release it. It has two seals rather than the one on my present unit. The metal of the chamber is at thick or thicker than that of my stainless steel pressure cooker. The directions it comes with (although poorly hyphenated) are simple, clear and helpful. A bit surprising is the the drain-cock is open when screwed in and closed when partially unscrewed. This unit takes a 10" standard filter. The only improvement I can see would be to label the coupling ring (Left loose - Right tight) to help remind me direction to couple and uncouple it. I might put a sticker to remind myself.

Great product, very heavy duty in my opinion.
I love having a water well so much better than city or county water in my opinion. The only downside has been the sediment that gets pumped into the house. After constantly cleaning out shower heads and faucet aerators, I finally decided it was time for a solution. When I found this whole-house sediment filter, I saw something that could make my life easier and save me time. And nothing is more valuable than our time.Installation was easy, everything fit perfectly, and there are no leaks. The build quality is excellent, and best of all, it didn’t affect the taste of my water. I couldn’t be happier with it!
