These make better water even better
I bought these for another brand of gravity filter and they screwed on the bottom of the filter just as the nut that holds on it does. I love the fact that these change the aLkalinity of the water without having to put drops in the water to do so. they offer a second filter that improves your water even more.

Passes the Red Dye Test
Each of the four filters passed the red dye test. It’s a test where red food color dye is added to the top chamber to test if the water going into the bottom chamber is crystal clear. If no red color passes through then the filters are working properly.I tried to get good photos of the process. Lighting wasn’t optimal so just trust me when I say the water passed the test.Water tastes good after priming each filter using the original Berkey priming nozzle, and then running a full 2.5 gallon cycle through the filters. Would be a bonus if a replacement priming nozzle was included in this kit but I’m happy with what I got.

Hard to tell...
The water tastes better so I think it's working? How are we all to know though? Without any testing or proof of testing by a third party. The one thing that has me skeptical is the flow rate. If you had a Berkey filter and prime it, it takes a bit of a while for the filter to sweat. This took no time at all. This makes me pretty sure it is not the same quality and likely won't last as long as a Berkey, but it does the job well enough until I get an actual Berkey filter!

Defective. Lasted only 120 gallons.
I bought them in Jan 2025 and now It's not even end of March they stopped dripping. It worked for 2 months and barely 120 gallons.

Passes the red dye test; way cheaper than Berkey
I was unable to find the "Berkey Black" filters for my system, so I wrote their customer service. They wrote back saying they were out of stock and gave me the customer service of the filter manufacturer. I thought they should be in touch with their own filter supplier instead of forcing their customers to deal with figuring it out.Luckily I found these WAY CHEAPER filters on Amazon, and they appear to be the same carbon-type filters as Berkey sells. They passed the red dye test, and that is the only test I know I can perform at home to see how fine the filter works. They took the bad taste out of my water just like the exorbitantly expensive ones from Berkey did, too.
