Comfortable, well made, an excellent buy!
Like the pants, I bought this jacket to stay protected, comfortable, and warm for the 01 Nov 2021 ride back after I flew to Dallas from KC to pick up my Himalayan. The trip back was fun, but rain and cold were in the mix so the right gear was essential. This ILM jacket did the trick. Over four hours of rain on the ride back and I stayed dry. When it dropped below forty at night, I layered a dry-fit pullover and Eddie Bauer fleece underneath and stayed warm. For those of you that ride, you know that "below 40" ambient air temperature means "below zero" on the bike!I've put over 3,000 miles on her since then (today's 02 Jan 2022), and some of the warmer days had me unzip the winter liner.Warmth: For sane people, it's warm enough with the zip-in liner. For us psychos, a little layering goes a long way!Waterproof: from drizzle to downpour, I've stayed dry. I did get water runoff from my neck gaiter that dampened the inside of the collar, but "life ain't perfect on a bike in the rain".Comfort: I felt comfortable from below 40 to 70 degrees in the different configurations.Protection: Haven't had to use that part yet (knock on wood), but carbon fiber shoulders, plus reinforced/padded elbows, chest, and back definitely will be welcome if I ever go wheels up!You can spend a lot more money, but I'm not sure how much more you'd get for it. Give this jacket a shot if you're in the market, I think you'll like it too.

Good for the price
Great jacket. Liner gets your body warm fast. I’m a xxl, the shoulders fit great, but a little snug in the mid section. Stiff jacket. But for the money great jacket.

time owned, 0-3 months
So far i have positive impressions of this jacket. Given the price point it seems like a very good value and seems that it would do a decent job in the event of a "get off". The zippers are plastic, but are very precise and smooth. They do zip from the left side (European thing i think). Padding and armour seems good and well placed and the denier material looks to be quite heavy and would resist abrasion from the ground. As for the fit, I bought a LARGE, based on the sizing chart. I'm 5'-8'' with a fairly athletic build, 40" chest, 32" waist, and 30" inseam. I weigh 160 lbs. Just enough room for a down vest underneath if it's really cold. I haven't tried it in cold weather yet, still in the 80's here in southern Ca. I want it for the crash protection mostly, but it feels pretty warm with the liner zipped in. There isn't much room at the belly, so if you have a bit extra, you better order up a size. Plenty of room at the shoulders and chest, but the biceps area of the sleeves don't give any extra room. Just snug on me with a long sleeve sweatshirt on under the jacket. It fits me remarkably well, and I'm pleased at that. I hope the size info and my dimensions help others with getting a good fit. I will update as needed.

Ridiculously long shipping time... nice inexpensive jacket
The jacket is ok, I ordered an XXL and I'm glad I did. I'm 6' 250lbs. and it fits snugly. The material is what you'd expect from an inexpensive jacket. I like the look and the reinforced areas are wellplaced.Having said that, I have to mention the excruciatingly long shipping time. I ordered the jacket in the evening on April 30th. It took until May 3rd for the company to begin the shipping process. I didn't get the jacket until late afternoon on May 9th. It shipped free from California to Ohio.Still, 9 days is a long time for an item to arrive. They need to get their shipping department together.I would have given 4 stars, but for the long shipping time.

Runs small, but feels good
I've been wearing this the last month or so in Texas, so basically 100 F most of the days. It is surprisingly comfortable in the heat when you remove the inner liner. It feels good, nice and cool if you aren't idling at a light. It is unisex and the cut is a little weird for me. I'm a slob, and just buy bigger sizes and let them drape on me. This has a little bit of a cut in around the stomach. I actually kind of like it, but originally I thought it was a little small. The white piping is reflective, but there isn't much of it and at night is looks like random lines, not the outline of a person. A good touch, but I wouldn't want to rely on it catching anyone's attention. Two things - it is unisex, and the zipper has to go on one side or the other. It is on the traditional women's side. No big deal, but I do have a reflective vest for night driving, and it has the zipper on the men's size, and is the only time I notice it isn't "standard" for me. Also, I lost a decent amount of weight and am hovering between L and XL in most things I've been buying. I went XL, but it runs small and I am not sure I'd want to add more than 10 lbs before it is too tight for my liking (I'm 6'0/220 lb at the moment)Update: After about a year of using it quite regularly, I bought a second one for my son. The first didn't show any wear, and he's been riding pillion with me and about to start working on his license, so it was time. This time I got a large and it works well for him (5'6" and a rugby-shaped 145 lbs).

Spend the extra money for a quality jacket
Nothing on this jacket is CE certified, meaning it means no standard requirements for safety. That in itself means you should spend the extra money to buy a higher quality jacket. Beyond that the thermal liner feels extremely cheaply made and the zipper connection to main coat is poor quality, additionally the button hook clasps to lock sleeves in the wrist come undone when pulling arm out of jacket easily. Front zipper is also poor quality that I’ve had trouble with since day 1. I’m amazed with how many vents this jacket has and how hot it is even with liner removed. All around a disappointment. Spend the extra $100 to get a quality jacket from a company like alpinestars.
