review - the G3 Ferrari one mug coffee maker by a bachelor
It makes decent coffee. fairly easily with minimum fuss, and keeps it warm for about a half hour after brewing.it's reasonably easy to clean too. the multi language instructions are a bit sparse, so here is how i make the (for me)perfect mug of coffee. note i do not say cup. the instructions assume you will drink out of a 50 ml. doll's cup, not a mug of human proportions.anyhow:1, unscrew the top clear plastic part from the bottom heavy aluminium part. the silvery ring stays with the top part, so do NOT try to unscrew the clear part from it.2. remove the lightweight holy alum. funnel/filter section from the bottom unit. pour 150ml of water into the bottom unit, britas filtered if possible.3.there is a loose perforated disk with a teeny finger grip bit, euphemisticaly called a three cup adapter. it isn't. it's in case you actually are a foot tall and drink from a doll-house cup.if you are, remove it, put one scoop (conveniently provided) of medium grind coffee on top of the perforated plate & replace the disk on top of the coffee...4. if you are a reasonable facsimile of a real fully matured human, however, remove the adapter plate, and put it somewhere. somewhere you won't remember where, of course. then put in two scoops of coffee, tamp down with the flat bottom of the scoop, add a third scoop & tamp flat. make sure you do all this over the sink to catch the ground coffee that goes flying when you drop it all.5. having succeeded, ensure there is no coffee on the rim of the funnel, or on the edge of the bottom unit, or on the gasket in the bottom of the upper unit. or in the threads.6. place the funnel back in the bottom unit, screw the op on fairly tightly. if you don't it'll leak.7. place the assembled unit back on the base with the power cord.8. flip the switch. light comes on.9. after a few minutes the upper clear 'jug' will suddenly fill half way with coffee & start gurgling and foaming. when it stops, the coffee is ready. you may hear a low click as the main heat switch opens.10. if you have left the kitchen to take care of your morning ritual visit to the littlest room, the coffee will remain hot for 30 minutes, or until you pick the assembled unit up off the base. it will not reheat if you put it back for safety reasons as you no longer have water in the bottom unit.11. when ready, pour the coffee in your mug, add cream and sugar to suit, and top up the 150ml of coffee with hot water from the kettle12.leave the assembly to cool. the bottom part gets HOT, which you will likely remember better after the first trial at disassembly while hot.13. when cooled, unscrew it. the coffee gets compressed into a stiff block, don't poke it out with a knife. it's hard to drive to the emergency room with one hand while bleeding from the other. not impossible tho. i know - been there, done that. besides that, when you get home the funnel will have a hole and you ill now have a dead unit until you figure out how to repair the funnel/filter or get a new one.14. if you run the tap, turn the funnel upside own and let the tap water stream run thru the funnel spout to force the coffee plug out. clean all the other bits & re-assemble for next time.15. when relaxed after finishing your delicious coffee, hoover up any scattered coffee grounds, wipe up the blood, wash the dog and go out into the cold cruel world.troubleshooting:if no coffee comes out after a reasonable time, you forgot the water. let it cool, after burning your hands trying to unscrew it hot. (see 12 above), then add water, try again. if it had water, and you did not burn your hands unscrewing it, maybe the heat element died. see warranty.if the seal leaks and water squirts all over, wait for it to cool, disassemble clean it. see 5 & 6. ask someone with muscles to tighten it next time.if steam squirts out the little safety valve, the grind was too fine & that darling little device just saved your life from a steam explosion, shrapnel, flak and severe bodily harm. it will reset itself allowing you to try again. i try to ensure the safety valve points away from me. justincase. i also have an official UK army issue Kevlar vest handy, just a bit too far away to put on in time.well, have finished my coffee, the dog is demanding her dinner and i'm getting peckish myself.p.s. - don't forget to buy more ground coffee next shopping trip. i use tesco's italian blend (it's a 4), cheap & cheerful, with a full flavoured bite.

Love 4x4
I love these electric coffee pots , my original one gave up the ghost after five years of sterling service. So i replacer it with this one and so far so good , works as well as the last one . Only minor niggle is thelid doesn't open quite as wide for cleaning , the size is ideal for one person and makes a great latte.....

Perfect
OK - so I have had this for a few days now so time for a review.I have been a Moka Pot convert for a while now but specifically since I spent some time in Italy last year, whilst using a stove top Moka pot is simple, the fact you have to watch it otherwise it burns makes it a bit of a faff during the morning rush. This is where this electric Moka pot comes in.You fill with water & coffee the same as a standard Moka (either 1 cup or 3) and then pop it on the stand a flick the switch, a few minutes later the coffee is ready and will stay warm for 30 mins, perfect no watching required. The only thing that is slightly annoying is once you remove the pot from the base the warming function is switched off and will not come back on, so its more to keep warm before you use it rather than to consume 3 cups in 30 mins.It feels quality and the EU - UK adapter is excellent, its a solid bit of kit and secured with a couple of screws, perfect, no dodgy far eastern adapters here. The coffee is as you would expect so no complaints there, just maybe that its too tempting to make 3 cups rather than 1.If you love coffee you will not be disappointed.

Did not stand the test of time
Update after about 18 months of use.... It has started to leak around the base. Not coffee but water, which makes me think that there is a problem with the sealed water tank.I bought this so I can have fresh coffee when I stay away in certain hotels that only provide instant in the rooms. I already have a bialetti moka pot that has served me well but cannot be used without a hob.The instructions are sort of clear but didn't say anything about priming the unit which I did before my first brew.I used a pre ground espresso fine coffee, monsooned Malabar from Redbar (normally I use fresh ground from beans but made a mistake when ordering that side). The unit was easy to set up and was quick to brew, it was a nice novelty to watch the coffee filling up, almost made my nostalgic for my siphon. I could hear the heating element click off when the coffee had filled (also just after it had started bubbling), I left it for a bit to see if it would keep boiling and it didn't. That is an excellent addition, I have been guilty of burning coffee when using the hob.The only cons I can think of are that the plastic coffee container feels a bit cheap and my concern is how durable this will be and the instructions are a bit basic. All in all though, definitely not worth the money and after a few months of use, I'm sure this could be better but it's just not durable.

this has revolutionized our mornings because it gives a small, strong coffee and it's made very quickly so no need to sit and drink a cafetiere before work....saves time - very efficient.
