High-End Professional Features at a Very Affordable Price!
Matte boxes have four uses- two they're designed for, two they're not. They allow you to control unwanted light from hitting the lens and offer you the ability to use filters, but they also add a bit of protection to the front of the camera and they make you look good. This matte box ticks all of those boxes and does so at a great price. I can't praise this matte box enough! It's made of a mixture of heavy-duty plastic (the matte box and trays) and lightweight metal (the flags and the rail mounts) but feels pretty solid and well-made. It's got a lot of features that you'd expect to find on a higher budget matte box (the swing-away design, the extensions on the side flags, two filter trays- one being rotatable, the height adjustment control) but costs a fraction of the price of something like a Bright Tangerine matte box. Okay, if you're shooting with bigger cameras on higher paying jobs and you want something to reflect that, then go grab a Chroziel, it might make sense for you. But if you're working on a budget and want to control the light more and get into using filters, then this is a great place to start and will last you a while as well. My only complaints are that the swing-away locking pin is a threaded screw rather than a spring-loaded design and some of the other screws are kind of fiddly, but I suppose you can't have everything!

Great product
I would have given it the full 5 stars if the flaps held in place. However, all in all, a great product for the price it’s at. Does the job and I use it without the flaps anyway.

The Matte Box is not bad in general
The Matte Box is not bad in general, but have found the flags don't hold any stiffness and even after tightening they come loose very easily and can flap about in the wind. The Filter holder doesn't have any springs to secure filters in place so they do move about ever so slightly. Not a massive issue but something be aware of. Otherwise the Matte Box has done it's job well.

The perfect first choice in entry level cinematography!
FOTGA have really excelled themselves in the field of cinematography with this fantastic professional matte box that is not that far off from similar matte boxes from bigger brands costing an absolute fortune! And unlike some extremely less well known brands that try and imitate similar looking cinematic products then it's safe to say that this matte box will prove to be reliable in the long run if carefully used and well looked after! So if your a film student or are new to filmmaking eager to direct your first short or are merely on a tight budget by building up your cinema camera rig then this matte box from FOTGA is the ideal first choice! And will prove to make a big difference especially if your planning on reducing some of the lens flare from either your cine prime lens, particularly if your planning on using an anamorphic one at some point for that more cinematic look! And for just under 100 quid or thereof it really is a no brainer!Top seller I may add, kind regards!🎬 🎥

Outstanding quality.
Bought this matte box to use on a professional casting shoot.Solid, professional-quality build, with all parts machined to excellent tolerances. Doughnuts seal well around different lenses and barn doors are made of aluminium not plastic. 15mm rods are strong and equate to professional standards. For the price, this matte box would be hard to beat on quality of build and solid professional appearance.Delighted with this purchase.

It's a good bit of kit
It's a great matte box. Easy to use and easy to install. However, there is movement once you tighten it into place. The inner filter slide moves too easily and I can't seemt work out a way of keeping it still.Other than these little things, it's worth the money. Fulfils the purpose to a great level. I think it also looks good too.

Not impressed, total junk, cheap and nasty
It arrived bent so it wouldn’t line up with the lens correctly. and missing a few flag screws. Have been chasing the company and getting very slow to no responses. Not impressed. Will be returning it soon. Quality definitely not worth the price.Missed the return date with them messing me about for so long with the missing screw, have used it several times and it's just rubbish. The hinges loosen over use which need to be tightened mid-shoot sometimes ruining takes as they flap about or fall off and the fact it doesn't line up with the lens so I can see part of the box in the shot for wide lenses means it just gets removed and set aside. Useless.
