Upgraded old fountain with Solar!
My old fountain's pump stop working after 8 years, I decide to get a new pump and upgrade to solar power. I Tried different pumps that came with a solar panel, water flow was weak or stopped working after a few weeks. My friend recommended this pump kit to me and told me to connect a 10W 12V solar panel to it. It came with a fountain kit for those who are building a new fountain, it’s a nice touch since it has 4 nozzles which allows you to adjust the height and select the spray pattern. However, I have no use for it since I am upgrading my old fountain.Installation was pretty easy. The cable of the pump is very long, which allowed me to install the solar panel away from my little garden. At the end of the cable, there is a short extension cord that can be detached when you unscrew it, I connected the extension cord to the solar panel. (The connector is not designed for standard solar panel, but its clearly labeled with positive and negative tags.)After sunrise, the pump starts pumping the water to around 1-2 feet high and is around 3-4 feet high by noon time. The pump is very quiet, it's almost impossible to hear any sound from the pump when the fountain is running. My friend told me I can hook up a 12V car battery if I want it running at night time. In my case, when the sun goes down, I don't really need the fountain on. It works around 8 hrs during the day which is good enough for me. Now I don't have to worry about turning off my pump while I sleep or out of town. I can just leave it and forget about it since it runs off of free/green energy. It has been running for few days now and I don’t see any sign of failure. It should be a solid solution for those who wants to replace their old fountain or upgrade their old fountain to solar and save some electricity cost like me.Pros:Long power cableQuietCome with fountain kitDetachable extension cableI’m giving this pump a 5 star because it's a perfect for me, although I have to mention the plastic cover on the pump is not that great. But i don't care...

Battery works at night as promised
Still works and battery is good enough to run my small fountain after the sun goes down, I found out many of these solar fountains turn off as soon as the sun goes down but not this one

Very weak
The company isn't super responsive and multiple customers have been asking questions. This pump isn't bad but the solar panel is very weak. You have to have direct powerful sunlight for it to even trickle. If you stand beside the panel and put one finger in the way od the panel, just a finger the pump no longer moves water. Cloudy days, partly cloudy, sunny days with falling leaves, a butterfly fluttering in front of it and the pump no longer runs. For most of us the reason we got the pump is to help with aeration of the water. If the pump only runs at best 4hrs a day then this product is pretty useless. A better investment is a small solar system and a good quality pump. The pump also doesn't come with a filtration box/system so you are paying for a mediocre pump, weak panel and no ability to expand on the system. No splitter to add panels, no option for a battery pack, the pump can also burn itself out if there isn't enough son(which almost never is enough) and it keeps trying to pump. This setup also doesn't come with a hose so if you are like myself and trying to create a small waterfall then you'll need go invest in even more hardware. The provided sprinker doesn't displace enough water to really help with aeration or with keeping mosquitos from breeding. This is a nest idea but a terrible execution. Lesson learned.

Take care of it and will last you years.
Lets begin, I purchased this product 4 yrs ago along with a 100w solar panel. The pump was working fine until I opened the pump where the impeller is and the ceramic shaft broke. I hadn't noticed right away after the cleaning until I came home after a sunny day and the water wasn't flowing. I pulled it out of the water to check for noise and the pump was hot! Meaning the amps from the solar panel were high enough to heat the plastic. Luckily I caught it in time to prevent damage. I tried to glue back the shaft but no luck. So I decided to purchase a new one because looking online there is no replacement shaft only cable extensions. This arrived fast without prime. Now my aquaponics system is back running on solar keeping lots of water flow. The fact this pump has a range of voltages worked perfect for this application. Don't go for small 20w solar panels. This pump has been working fine with a 100w solar panel without battery storage. Just DC. I'm satisfied with the pump overall and I recommend to place this pump in a filter box for ponds. That way you avoid the impeller being tangled in debris so you won't risk having to clean it and accidentally damaging the fragile shaft. Learned my lesson and hope this new pump will last me for many more years. Hope this can help anyone.

Works great
The media could not be loaded. Day 1, easy set up. After I laid the pecs a put in a flexible hose from pump to the pecs I plug it in to the panel and it works great. I was worried about head pressure but my worries were needless it works great.

Stop working after a month.
It is a good pump and it worked as advertised. I was super satisfied with this purchase. The water flow is weak but was enough for my needs. After a month enjoying my fountain it stopped working. This is the third solar pump I have tried, none of them worth the money. Switched to a plug in one.

Surprisingly durable
These are great. I've owned three of them for 7+ years and they still work, despite being outside in the blazing sun or the frigid snow.
