This thing SAVED MY BEHIND
Never helicoiled, drilled and tapped, or even drilled out a bolt before. Stripped a tensioner bolt when doing my timing belt and ended up having to go this route. I was terrified I would make a catastrophic mistake as it sounds like a major surgery procedure. However it couldn't of been more straightforward, held great in the aluminum and is working just fine. Take your time and sleep easier knowing this is in your box.

Great buy
This kit fixed my problem quick! Had stripped threads in my 2011 ford fiesta rear shock upper mount bore, causing constant rattling in the rear leading to a cracked shock mount. Went to install a new shock when I discovered this and thought I was “screwed”! Searched on you tube how to fix the threads and found this…never new kits like these existed for problems like this, but glad I found it! Worth every penny at a fair price. Nice packaging and portable sturdy case. Plenty of sizes and pieces included for the job!

Worked out as a novice user
Had mixed feeling when recieved thread repair kit since it did not come with tap wrench but you have to use tapping bit to create new thread. Repairing stripped out screw housing for hydrolic brake system on my mtb.I have never done this so was apprehensive but figured I could save some money diy instead of sending to bike shop and there by acquiring infinite supply of thread repairing stuff. I improvised a socket head and used a socket driver; i'm sure the racquet would have worked but wanted to see my parallelism going into the hole since that was the advantage of using a tap wrench. So all in all it worked in a pinch wish it had some tool to connect the tapping bit though. I would buy again, not perfect kit but worked.

Got the job done, but should have used thread locker
Great kit for the price. Was able to drill, tap & thread a stripped hole in an aluminum engine block in tight quartes. I should have used red locktite on the coil insert though. I had to back out a bolt and the insert unwinded a bit. It's not an issue with this kit in particular, it apparently can happen with brand name tread repair coils. Rookie mistake.Hope I never need to repair a stripped thread again, but I have a lifetime supply of tools and inserts if I do.

Gets the job done, but you get what you pay for.
One day I went outside and noticed someone stole the antenna off my car. In doing so the completely stripped the threading inside the base. It would have cost me $400 to replace the base, so I figured I’d try to fix it myself. After all, it was already broken, what else did I have to lose? The product was super easy to use. I ordered some cutting oil with this, and was able to cut new threads in the antenna base. But when I tried to insert the new threading it began to uncoil, and actually bent the tip of the tool used to install the new threads. Luckily I was able to extract the tool, and even though the threading came undone partially, I was still able to screw in a new antenna, thus fixing my problem. While I was able to do exactly what I intended, by fixing my antenna, I was a little surprised by the quality of the materials provided. Being that this product did save me close to $400, I think it deserves at least 3 stars.
