Belt for gently lifting patients at home
Excellent product -- exactly what I wanted and exactly as described by the seller! I am completely satisfied with product. This model had multiple handles for lifting patient from both sides and was padded for maximum patient comfort. Belt was also about half the price or what local stores offered it for sale. You just can not beat Amazon prices for the quality!

This Gait Belt Is a Life Saver!
My father-in-law is 91 and his legs are getting weak. He’s fallen several times and we’ve had to call the EMT’s to help get him up, he’s a big guy. We’ve been using this gait belt to help him get out of chairs, in and out of the car, and up and down the stairs. It’s been a life saver. The belt is secure and comfortable, and the handles make all the difference. We had a “standard” gait belt, which is just a strap and was difficult to hang on to, it hurt the hands when lifting. This one is so much better, even the EMT’s commented on what a great belt it is.Yes, he still falls down (not as frequently) and we have to call the EMTs sometimes, but it is so much better now that we have a decent gait belt and at least we can get him from point A to B much easier and safer.

Nothing
Return ended on 4/27/24. One of the handles stitching broke today 5/1/24. Probable a stitching problem.I really like the belt and will reorder.I will rate it high because of the easy to use.

So much better than the typical woven “gate belt”
At times I have to assist an elderly family member in and out of a wheelchair, a seat in the car, or off the commode. The woven gate belts are a pain to try and get on through the tension buckle, are hard to get my hands under it without poking, scraping/scratching the person it is on and I break nails or bend them back and never feel like I have a good secure hold. This once I have the size set and snugged up - it’s just a clip on every time. I feel more secure with my grip on the handles and it is much less strain on both of us. I got 2 of them in different colors - one for patient and one for me - so I can quickly tell them apart and have them set to the right size for each of us. It is wide enough and tight enough to feel much like a back support for the caregiver and gives the patient a safe way to “hold on” if needed during transfers. I like them so much I’ve ordered another set for in the car - to assist in Drs office, etc - and still have a pair in the house. I’m a major fan of these! I don’t know how “Durable” they will be, we’ve only had them for a week.

Good but...
I got this to help with my wife after she suffered a TBI. When she came home, I did put it on her to help get her into the house. We were using a rollator as well. The grips felt good and strong in my hand. Her muscles had atrophied more than was expected. This meant she was really needing my support. At some point, it became to much for both of us and we did a controlled fall. The belt needed about another inch smaller as it did turn under stress. My wife has a peg tube, this belt is not designed with that in mind and it impacted the tube when it was moving. So if you have a partner that can actually stand and walk and she's not have a peg tube, I would recommend it. If they have a peg tube, I would not.

Life with MS
As a caregiver for my wife who has MS and sometimes struggles with balance, the Gait Belt Transfer Belts with Padding Handles have been indispensable. When my wife falls and needs to be picked up multiple times a day, it takes a significant toll on my ability to ensure my own safety. This belt has provided a practical solution to help both of us.The one-click buckle and padded handles make it easy to secure and comfortable for my wife. It allows me to follow behind her or help her stand using the handles, reducing the strain on my body. The belt’s design ensures that I can assist her safely without risking injury to myself. This is crucial because if I get injured, I can no longer help her.Finding items that aid both of us in our daily routine is essential, and the Gait Belt Transfer Belt has been a reliable tool in making our lives easier and safer. Highly recommended for caregivers needing an effective and secure way to assist their loved ones.

This review is NOT a criticism of this item!
But it really does help transferring people. It's alot better than struggling without it. Unfortunately these gait belts are not made to not slip around the person's waist or up their bodies. Cinching the belt tight would help, but probably very uncomfortable for the person you are helping. This is NOT criticism of the item purchased, but just a fact and advice to go easy on the person being transferred. ALL belts seem to have this limitation - easy on, easy off, but like any piece of clothing or a belt, it is not made to not slip around a person.
