Removes chips and sharpens ceramic knives well
I have a Kyocera knife and had been looking for a proper 'designed for ceramic blades' sharper for years. The blade had a couple of chips out of the blade. I followed the picture guide on how to use the sharpner and after 1 minute the blade was back to new, just as sharp as when I bought it and no chips! It only take slim bladed knives - but then I have other sharpeners for my metal knives so this will be used once every 6 months just for the ceramic.Great product.

Only bad if have wide blades and thick bolster
Does the job and well used on both Japanese and European style knives . Only bad if have wide blades and thick bolster . Work well on many types from chrome stainless steel to white no1 steel and on different Damascus blends . Just remember works best on thinner blades best with no bolster . Batteries seem to last well . Few mouths if use for one chef maybe a week if use by many ... ps stop using my sharper when I am not looking .😀

the item does sharpen ceramic knives but there is a ...
the item does sharpen ceramic knives but there is a plastic guide which inhibits the full access of knives .I will continue to use it but in my opinion this item was manufactured to sharpen Kyocera knives and not really universal or other ceramics

Excellent for Kyocera ceramic knives
Bought this to rejuvenate my tired, rather blunt and chipped Kyocera ceramic knives I've owned for over 10 years.Wasn't expecting too much but was very surprised and very happy with the result. Knives really are now as good as when they were new.I'm not sure it can be used to sharpen non-Kyocera ceramic knives i.e. those that have thicker blades than Kyocera knives, but basically, if the blade fits in the guides this sharpener works very well.

Only works if your knife is the right shape - ours aren't.
Probably works great if you want to sharpen a knife that has a thin blade with a "heel", i.e. there's no protective moulding on the handle to stop your hand from slipping off the handle and under the blade. Ours DO have this protective bit and they prevent at least half of the blade from being able to make contact with the sharpening stone, which renders the sharpener pretty well useless. It also won't accommodate a thick blade. The instructions do say in the small print that it should only be used for knives made by Kyocera, but even if we'd known that we'd have dismissed it as one of those "you must only use expensive OEM cartridges in this printer"-type instructions.

Did a great job of rescuing my ceramic knife
Did a great job of rescuing my ceramic knife, by reinstating the factory edge. Also reshaping a chipped tip on the knife.Still use an oilstone for metal knives, but this is not an option for ceramics.
