Oberwerk Special Edition Binocular (10x42) - Astronomy Binocular for Adults/High Powered, Porro-Prism, Superior Performance/Ergonomic & Waterproof/Hiking, Outdoor, Bird-Watching

I work as a Fire Lookout in a National Forest in the Western United States. I spend a lot of time glassing for smoke/fire up to 60 miles away. I bought these binos with my own money after A LOT of reading on forums and even watching videos on YT by foreign people with subtitles...The issued binos I was using were 8x42s "Vxxxxx". I wanted a touch more magnification, so I got the 12x50 5.6° here. It is stable enough still that I can see smoke/fires approximately 60+ miles away while holding them and maybe bracing against something. The old (other brand) 8x42 binos left something to be desired with how well they worked in low light conditions, focused and had a consistent dark circle ghosting the middle of my FOV.I will keep these for a lifetime and I really think it was the best purchase I could have made! They have a nice case and several straps to use for portability. Everything is so clear, they are very versatile and easy to set up and just use.Just wow. Thank you for making a great product Oberwerk at a good value!

Recently bought these binoculars, had to send them back, while the optical quality is superb, on par or better in a few areas to Nikon HG, I’m sorry to say the mic build quality is not good in a couple of areas, ie focus wheel, mine was very stiff with to much free play and completely broke after a short time , also eye cups at not very precise in clicking in position, and a very cheap neck stap which comes with the product, it’s a shame as I said before the optics are top notch, sort this out Kev , I would happily pay a bit more if build quality was improved, oh yeah, forgot about that nasty cheep diopter riing, really wanted these binoculars to be better build quality!

Good fit and finish, clear center image. Some fringing at the edges of the image circle.

Great binos for the price, clear, no distortion. These binos punch far above their price point, I have noticed most Oberwerk binos do. I also like the up-rotating eye cups and center focus. Great binos for all applications, star gazing, birding, nature watching, spotting, etc.

Husband says these are just as good (if not better) than the well known brand that was discontinued.
