I bought this around 18-months ago and only now am I writing a review. Why? Because you buy a Dualit for the quality and longevity, so writing a review on day-one somewhat misses the point.Firstly, the quality. It's superb. It feels like a professional bit of kit that is built to last, rather than a plastic-formed toy. The dial, the level the switch, they're all reassuringly high quality. If you set the dial to the same time 100 times, you'll get the same result 100 times. This might seem a small point, but when rushing around making breakfast you don't have to give it your full and undivided attention - bread in, lever down (well, up...), dial to your usual setting and off you go. Being lever-based, when done the toast doesn't 'pop' up and get cold. It waits until you're ready... sure, you can't leave it forever, but it's definitely a benefit.Next, the taste. The main thing I've had to deal with is the 'toasters are all the same' comments and questions about spending a lot of money on a toaster. This does taste better. As above, it's consistent so you always get great results, but it doesn't dry your toast out and remove all texture and flavour and it toasts both sides absolutely evenly.Now, the cost. Considering the two points above you can see you're getting value for money. High build quality and excellent end results, that's enough right? Well, also consider this can be repaired easily and cost effectively. Not that I'm expecting any faults for quite a long time... it's nice to know when something does go wrong, I can buy one replacement part rather than send this to the tip and buy a new toaster. Being a product from a professional-grade company, you won't struggle to find spare parts or somebody to service it for you.Downsides last... just two, really. Firstly, if you set the timer too long you can't easily cancel it. Not a huge deal as you soon learn the 'right' setting, but not ideal if you often change bread types and need to work this out on-the-fly. Secondly and lastly, some of the wider breads don't fit entirely inside this toaster, they stick out a bit. Fortunately you can lever your toast up and spin it around if necessary, but it is a downside.Overall a justified five stars, excellent quality, excellent value for money and a definite recommendation from me. It even looks the part too, adding a touch of quality to any kitchen!

Like: all parts are replaceable, it is solid/sturdy, toast can be raised/lowered during toasting to check colour, produces very good toast - crisp on the outside, soft in the middle.No dislikes

Read the instructions inside the box before unpacking as it has vital information re the first time use, i.e. there may be slight smoke and crackling noises - be aware.This is such a sturdy, well grounded toaster and looks fab alongside my matching Dualit polished steel kettle - which I was amazed to find I'd had since October 2021 (I thought I'd had it about 18 months and it still looks new!)Be aware it may remain hot for longer than other toasters you may have used, and the sides can be very hot if you intent moving it away from a permanent location (I kept my previous toaster in the utility room and carried it to the kitchen to use, but this is so lovely I may just leave it on display permanently).My decision to purchase a Dualit toaster was the ability to replace parts and not to purchase another cheaper model ever (I've gone through >7 cheaper toasters over the decades, but no more!) I always wanted a Dualit toaster ever since I worked in the health service in the days where we made patients toast for supper!!Finally, I'd remind and recommend anyone to register your product, it's a seamless and easy step and instructions are provided.

I bought my Dualit shiny 4 slice toaster just before Christmas - fantastic delivery time by Amazon. It arrived within 48 hours and I was expecting a 3 week delay!I have wanted one of these for many years but have never been able to justify paying such a price for a toaster. In the end i did (though at a substantially lover price than the high street) even so I didn't find it easy parting with 10 times the amount I could have bought a perfectly good toaster for.I now have my toaster and it looks very cool indeed. And it makes toast. That's it. I can't say in all honesty that it does the job any better than the one I've just stuck on freecycle. In fact, it may not even be as good. The one I threw out has some sort of electronic monitoring for even toasting and can deal with any width of bread, which the Dualit cannot. (unless you buy the toastie basket which will squash teacakes etc in. However, I love the presence of this machine, and it does feel like it will last for ever. I also like the slight quirkiness about it - the fact that it doesn't pop up, the fact that if you have made toast and then want more you need to reduce the toasting time. If you want a value for money toaster, don't buy one. If you want an iconic design classic, which says something , thpough I'm not sure what,which also makes nice toast, then I reccommend it. I knew I had to get one sometime in my life. It's done now and i like it a lot. I've only given it 4 stars, because as a small electrical appliance it is not good value in my opinion, but you are buying more than a toaster, and how you get on with it will depend on your reasons for getting one.

Extremely well made and without all the useless gimmicks that you find on so many household items these days. I love the fact that it is UK made and repairable, unlike so many things these days that are not. It may seem a lot to pay for a toaster but I don’t think I’ll ever have to buy another one! It’s the first toaster I’ve ever had that browns the bread evenly. I love its good old fashioned simplicity. If you don’t want to be in a regular cycle of buying and disposing of toasters, buy this!

I’ve had one of these for years and have just bought one for my daughter as a wedding present. They are lovely to look at and just go on and on seemingly indestructible.
