Trodat Printy 4750 Self Inking Date Stamp with Phrases Received, Paid, Entered, FAXED – Blue and Red Ink, 1" x 1-5/8"

These are always durable and last for years. Great value for the money versus the years of service.

The date on this stamp (trodat 4750) is easy to change. And I like that it is self inking. However, what I realized when I received the stamp is that changing the message is messy and inconvenient. Changing the date involves turning the wheels to your desired numbers. Changing the message (Paid, Received, etc) involves physically removing one msg from the stamp before replacing with another msg. The msgs are pressed down into a grid to hold in place and have to be changed out to switch msgs. This gets ink on your fingers and is inconvenient if you need to change your stamp msg frequently. If you only intend to keep it on one msg all the time, then this stamp works fine. However if one msg is all you need, its probably cheaper to just get a one msg stamp instead of this multi msg one. Therefore, I do not recommend this stamp. i hope this review saves someone some money. Btw, in my opinion, the trodat 4817 is a much better design. You will get some ink on your fingers initially when inserting the ink pad. But after that, the date and msg is easily changed without having to remove one msg before changing to another msg. Just turn the appropriate wheels to set your preferred date and msg. No mess and is fast and convenient.

Date stamps are intentionally annoying. The little rubber belts with the numbers on them are durable and the stamps are most useful for keeping track of papers, boxes and more. The hudeous part is the year band is not adjustable and have only a few (5, 6, 10, sometimes 12 years and are then useless. I am pretty mechanical and can tear most things apart and modify them, but these, no way. i had a large, heavy-duty, metal one for a few years with the same issue. My small one from Home Depot ran out with 2013. I wanted two, colors, a label like "Entered". I did err in getting one larger than needed. This was the chosen one?1. It was large.2. The plastic material was fairly sturdy, bu nothing like metal. It flexed just enough to contribute to its other shortcomings.3. The "Entered" message was too large and too dark and overcame the date.4. The biggy is that no matter how I hold it or stamp it the date smears. It results from several design defects, isn't fixable, makes it unusable for me and probably for many others.5. The size might suit cartons, but would still smear in most settings.I returned it and got one like my last one with its plus and minuses. The is delightfully simple with Amazon except for getting to the mail place.

Just what I needed and works great. The fact that I can make it say "received" is certainly a plus.

Had to retire my current date stamper (good for 6 years). Went to Office Depot, OfficeMax, Staples, Target, et al trying to procur a new one. Everyone was out of stock (this was in January). Finally gave up and decided to try Amazon. They had this model available and it was $6 - $7 until the price the big three (OD, OM, S) were asking for a similar unit. Decided to try it. Well built and I'm good through 2023 before I'll have to purchase another one (if I live that long). Only thing that I don't like about it.....I want to use it for the date alone. There are some attachable, perimeter rubber pieces (PAID, FILED, etc.) that I don't want to use. Unfortunately without them attached and in place (which is the only way I use it) blue lines are added to my stamped images above and below the date. Not a really bad thing but kind of a nuisance.

Ink pad is dried out.

The ink stamp works, but it is a messy job to change message pads. I will wear nutrile gloves from now on to change these message pads.

Basically useless, the stamp pad os bowed and does not make a full impression on the paper. Have tried with multiple stamp options and even using our own ink pad and it still doesn't work.
