Q: Can i wear these swimming?

Haven't tried. They are soft and thing ideal for the summer but swimming, depends if your thinking about wearing underwear or just wearing them as bikini bottoms, I love mine but they are only single thickness fabric.

Q: Do we really need to hand wash them?

I don't. I put them in a washing bag and wash on 30 degrees. Do the same with crz yoga leggings.
