This was the second Kensington style lock I've purchased in a week, the first went in the bin as not fit for use. This was a little more expensive than the first but still excellent value, the lock mechanism is smooth and easy to set your own 4 digit code. The cable is plastic coated and long enough to reach a suitable strong point.It does what you need it to do!Great price and fast delivery too.

Bought as a replacement since Chinese airport security confiscated my original one which came free with a Dell laptop. Particularly annoying since I'd had it for over 13 years. A great product, and while only a deterrent, it is perfect for use in hotel rooms. There are padding discs supplied to achieve a more secure fit though one may find it still wobbles a little. The strong and well made cable comes with an easily adjusted 4 digit security combination. Also supplied is a bracket which can be screwed to a desk.Regards my earlier point, if travelling by air not that some security officials could see it as a risk. Cables and other strong cables are seen as a potential weapon !!

First poor review i've written and whilst the concept is good, combination lock so no key to lose etc. the whole thing is a bit flakey. The combination is difficult to select and easy to alter whilst trying to release the lock. however the 2nd time i put it in the laptop having applied the anti rattle washer, with the button fully depressed it would not release and when it finally did one of the "teeth" that pegs it in place had sheared off. so that's it, back it goes, i'll not be buying another. Fortunately no damage done to the laptop!

Nothing special but does what it's meant to.The cable probably wouldn't stand up to somebody using some easily available tools but a good deterrent.

In my library at my university we have had a few laptops disappear and as I have a MacBook Pro I didn't really feel safe about leaving it for 1second to go to the loo. But when our University bought in metal hoops to attach laptop cables to I jumped at the chance and bought one of these, and I haven't looked back since. It is perfect, secure, doesn't wobble about in the hole. It is great. So glad I bought one, and now I can trust it to leave it there for a few minutes everytime I need to go to the loo.

Comes with concise and simple instructions that make using it very pleasant.Check the length however, and buy a cable several meters longer than you think you'll need - the doubling back needed to make the loop takes more out of it than you'd expect.It's not the thickest of cables, but I doubt that matters to a boltcutter.It can be reset with a screwdriver, so don't worry about being locked forever if you forget the code.As promised the coating on the cable means that furniture is not damaged by the cable.

Arrived quickly and easy to fit to laptop. Very cheap compared to other outlets. Wobbles about a bit in laptop but won't fall out. Bought for daughter living in Uni Halls so should secure laptop as a deterrent to others. Well worth the money.

Bought it for long train journeys just to give me a little peace of mind if I fall asleep watching films or something as far as I know it's not been tested but seems as secure as any others I've seen. If nothing else it's a deterrent.
