Takes a while for results but worth the wait!
Love this DNA kit. Always wondered if my Cocker Spaniel was mixed with other breeds. When I received the results I was pleasantly surprised that she was 75% English Cocker, 18% springer and 7% cocker. Also gives details of personality and physical traits. It did take over a month from when I sent away her DNA to get the results but was definitely worth the wait. All results can be viewed on the Ancestry website. Taking the sample was easy too. Just rub a bud inside her mouth and put it in the supplied tube. Postage is free too. So glad I did this.

Careful. Ancestry will not refund.
The product itself was easy to use, however the fine print is that it takes a while to get to the lab, so 3 weeks for results turns into 3 weeks from testing which is 2-4 weeks from receipt. So it's more like 3 months until results. This was all for the BSL legislative chaos so I was in a bit of a rush to find out what the puppy rescued was.The test was apparently lost in the post, I chased and chased and now 4 months down the line I cannot get a refund for the product on Amazon and Ancestry will not provide one because it was purchased through Amazon. So I have a DNA sample sent off, not received and a wasted cost as I still don't know what the dog is.The customer service from Ancestry is slow but polite. All in all a learning curve.

Fun to await, not sure genuinely accurate
I bought this test because I have a cross breed small dog which I was intrigued by, and I had also just done my own DNA test with Ancestry. However, I’m not really sure I would recommend it.It took a little while to arrive at the facility, no problem. But, I feel from there they may have just been guessing. When the results came through, my small cross dog was apparently wolf, coyote, Anatolian shepherd, boxer and poodle (I laughed a lot! See picture attached). After posting the results on Instagram saying this ‘must be wrong’ and tagging the company… her results magically became Dachshund & Poodle + 15% other.I then messaged on IG about the ‘other’, as it said still processing, awaiting additional information…Within 24hrs they added 15% Keeshond (I wasn’t convinced), and [then] maybe 48hrs after that… all 15% additional breed was removed and she became 56% poodle and 44% dachshund. Her mum is wire dachshund, so you would expect a terrier breed or something. The way I have received these results has made me very sceptical around the legitimacy.3 Stars for laughs- Review written by Simon’s daughter

Good reputation
From a company that has a good pedigree, yes a quick pun, I had expectations for this kit as I have had a DNA test for myself. This is done in almost the same way as a human one. However, although they say easy, not quite as easy as I had hoped. For this you have to swab the inside of your pets mouth. For some that might be simple, not quite for or rough collie. The rest of the process is simple. Pack, send and keep check if the process via the app. Then the results. As yet we have not received the results but they hopefully will be interesting. Not only to us but the breeder as the breeder was trying to get back to the original Scottish rough collie.Very pleased with the kit and look forward to the results.Price wise, well there is no reason why they should be any cheaper than the human equivalent so no problems.

Do not use ancestry
We bought the kit from amazon and it arrived promptly. Done test and sent it off the same day. After 6 weeks ancestry have lost the kit and because we didn't buy it direct from them they are refusing to refund us even though it is them who lost test.A truly tin pot company. Do not trust or use ancestry dna

Excited for results
I've been thinking about doing a DNA test on my girl because I always get asked if she's full breed (which we believe she is) as she has a white mark on her chest and is quite small for her breed.Received and registered the test on 11th Feb, sent off the following day.The test was super easy to do, wipe the swab around her cheeks and place in the pre filled vial, pop into bag supplied and pack in the box, then send. The whole process from registering to sending is straight forward. The process seems a little slow to me, or maybe I'm just impatient? It's been just over 3 weeks and I keep checking the website as I've not had many emails confirming what stage the process is at.Can't wait to get the results, and when I do, I'll update my review.Marked a star down purely because it's a bit cheaper to buy on their actual website
