Sturdy and not just for casting
Having to wear a short arm splint for an extended time, I wanted to find a washable, changeable stockinet arm cover for underneath.Since the edges of these are not finished, as such, it seems clear that they are meant to be under, and incorporated into, a short arm cast. Since I intended to use them multiple times, I simple sealed the edges with a commercial fray-stopper…..available at any store that sells sewing supplies ( and probably on Amazon, too!)The fact that this stockinet has thumbs, too, makes it much more comfortable to wear beneath a plastic, otherwise sticky and not-always-fresh splint. This solves those problems.

Nice Give, Stretchy (That's A Good Thing) Cooler; UPDATE
Update: I had my 1st physical therapy appointment yesterday. The therapist that made my cast commented these were better than the thicker stocking covers they had given me. She wanted to know where I had found them. We discussed unraveling issues (I don't think they're that bad) and the seam, but the comfort of a stretchy, thinner cover really outweighs the irritation of unraveling. I'm back for a second package as I will be in this cast for a while.I had CMC & carpal tunnel surgery on my left thumb & wrist three weeks ago. I'm in one of those removable casts with Velcro straps. Physical therapy gave me two stocking covers, one thicker, one thinner like this. I got really tired of washing those things, so I came to my favorite place to look for more. All the reviews are right. They do unravel, but I'll happily take that because the material is thinner, stretchier and my hand sweats less in this hot cast. The most I can say for the thicker material is that it doesn't unravel. My thumb and palm are still pretty dang sore and a bit swollen. It is miserable trying to get my sore thumb out of a stocking with little give several times a day for massages. Comfort and an easier time healing are a nice trade for clippng stings from something I won't be wearing hopefully that much longer.

Used under exo cast
I broke my wrist and needed to be in a thumb spica cast for 6 weeks. My ortho took pity on me and put me in an exo cast-one that I could remove for showering. He gave me a sleeve to put between my arm and cast but nothing for the thumb, where the cast rubbed on occasion. I bought this to see if it provided any additional comfort. Surprisingly, it did. It's a little thicker than the sleeve he provided but the cast could be adjusted with a turn of a dial and a few clicks so that was easy to accommodate. My only complaint is that it wasn't quite long enough. I was pulling it either to cover my hand or arm and, sometimes, taping it to the cast to keep it in place. I got 3 days out of it before I would throw it out for a new one. I'm glad that I bought it and I would recommend it. Without it, I don't think I would have been compliant with wearing the cast.

Highly recommend
The knit arm sleeves helped eliminate discomfort and itching while wearing hand/arm splints or braces. After spraining and fracturing my wrists and arm a friend gave me a couple sleeves she had. What a game changer! The soft fabric under the braces helped stop the irritation. I immediately purchased more sleeves on Amazon, so as to have a clean pair every day. My PHYSICAL THERAPIST saw them on the counter and asked where I bought them and is going to recommend them to his patients.

Excellent but it does fray--here's a fix!
I was so happy to find this stockinette after learning I'd need to wear a splint on my hand for 6-8 weeks. I was told to get cotton gloves and cut off the fingers but I knew there had to be a better way! These work great, and I've been laundering them in my washing machine in warm water and tumble drying them. They do get a little grubby--I'll probably buy another pack if I have to wear the splint much longer (now on week 5). As others have noted, they do fray. I fixed this by folding the edge of the part under my fingers UNDER the fabric and folding the part on my thumb OVER the thumb part of the splint. Then I taped the thumb part of the stockinette onto the splint. I used flexible, clear medical tape. It works perfectly--no more fraying!

Sleeves are very comfortable
I broke my wrist back in January of this year 2021. The orthopedic only gives 3 sleeves at my appointments. So I decided to look on Amazon and try these. They are not hemmed like in the picture... I guess you could do it yourself if you have a sewing machine or maybe use a little Velcro. I have not washed them yet but when I do...I will put them in a zippered cloth bag and wash cold on gentle and see how they come out. They do fray a little...You just have to be careful...I have a cast that I can take off because I wear a bone simulator and have to change the pads. So my sleeves are pulled on more than the average person maybe. I like them...they are comfortable...more so than what I get from the Drs office...The price is not bad. I will be buying more. If you sweat alot like I do...try spraying them with some Shout to get the stains out.

Decent for disposable
They do their job protecting my skin from a rough brace, but only good for maybe one or two washes before they unravel. Cheap enough I just treated them as semi-disposable.

Great for bandage protection
I bought these to cover my bandage from carpel tunnel surgery to keep it clean. Worked out well.
