I purchased this to test fluorescence of gems and other materials, the shortwave side is strictly on/off, and is practically invisible. The longwave side has four modes, two of which just seem to add purple leds/light.I’ve used it for a few hours in total, at the very least, and have not needed to charge it, and the intensity has not decreased.I’d say it’s well worth the price, it seems like it’s going to hold up for a long time.

Very good for price395, 365, 254 . Shortwave lights because of the technology it takes to have a are considerably more expensive than any other type of UV light and in general shortwave lights are not as powerful as long wave lights but this one does work well I would love to have a bigger more powerful one but if you're not trying to spend $300 this is a very good option

I had purchased a less expensive UV flashlight on Amazon in the past, but it didn't "light up" some items very well that I knew to be fluorescent. I researched online a bit and learned there are different wavelengths of UV light that work with different minerals (and also different qualities of UV flashlights). This light has three different wavelengths built in, so I thought it would be a good choice, and I was right. I collect mostly mineral/fossil spheres, and this lit up some I didn't realize had fluorescent minerals in them. I also like that I can recharge it, eliminating the worry of batteries staying in the flashlight and leaking over time (which happened with my previous purchase). It even worked in the daylight in my house. The photos show two of my spheres (Yooperlite/Sodalite in longwave with two window shades open during the day; Willemite and Calcite in shortwave and the same in longwave with the window shades closed during the day). At night, it is even better, but I don't have visitors at night, so it is nice to be able to show them the spheres in the day. Last, I like the feel of the flashlight too (it has a nice weight/substantive feel).

Love that it has 3 different spectrums. So much more useful and cost effective and compact looking to buy another.

everything is in working condition, I put 4 stars as the light is operated with a battery that is not as safe as new battery types. this light makes more minerals fluoresce, and different colors can be seen with this light. Wish they had an indicator led light on the shortwave light end to confirm that it is off when leaving the light. I think if you love glowing minerals or live in the UP, that you might want one to locate fluorescent minerals. This light is not a toy as the intensity of the shortwave can damage eyes.

Works great, shortwave is a little dim but all the colors still pop

Got this for a rockhound. It was very well liked as she ran around at all the rocks splashing them with UV light to get them to do the glow.... And then it went into the bathroom and OMG.

Love the unit. I took away a star because it seems to lose it's charge fairly quickly and I wish it came with lens caps. For the price of this it really should come with some sort of lens protector.
