QUALITY AND FINE WORKMANSHIP! A PLEASANT SURPRISE.
This chair is NOT your typically poor quality you might expect from the Pacific Rim. It appears to be made in Thailand and the wood is awesome; great quality and wonderful natural "fruit wood" color. Even the hex bolts and washers used to assemble it when you get it are top notch. Not the lousy metallurgy we often see with imports. EVERYTHING about this chair is quality. Everything. The first one that I got arrived with a broken arm. NOT the fault of the manufacturer; clearly the fault of a shipper dropping the box off a platform of some kind. So I sent it back for FREE and they sent me the new chair while the old one was in transit!Don't be afraid of ordering this chair. My office is decorated out of the 1930s-1940s and this chair fits right in! AND its got the comfort and functionality I would expect of a wooden "bankers" desk chair. Finally some quality coming out of the Pacific Rim. Bravo.

Casters are a weak point, but otherwise solid.
I am a large, heavy guy and a bit hard on furniture. I average going through two desk chairs per year, which is very annoying. It is difficult to find desk chairs that are built to last for a guy of my size. So, I finally decided to try a wooden chair instead of the typical large, heavily-upholstered chairs I have usually tried before. I thought the wood might be stronger and last longer, and so far it is doing fairly well for me. This chair is almost all wood and metal. The base is actually a metal frame with shaped pieces of wood over it.The only things that are not metal or wood are the seat pad and the casters. I believe there is a version with an all wood seat. Were I to buy it again, I would probably not buy the padded version. The seat pad is holding up well, but seems to be harder than my wooden kitchen chairs to sit in. (I bought a seat pillow for it and alternate with and without it.) As for the casters, they are plastic, and probably rated for fifty pounds apiece. As there are five of them, that might rate the chair for 250 pounds with person and chair. I weigh more than that alone. Three of the casters have broken. I went to a store and found metal casters that are rated for more than eighty pounds apiece and have been replacing them as they break. If you are anything near 250 pounds, I advise you take the caster to a hardware store and find some heavy-duty ones with the same stem type. Once the casters are in, they are very difficult to get out (even after they break), so I recommend you get the heavy-duty casters for initial assembly.Other than that, so far, so good. It is holding up better than my last few did.

Garbage, but reasonably presentable garbage. UPDATE: chair broke after six weeks. Garbage, not worth gluing back together.
Substandard fasteners, incompetent manufacturing, brutally stupid packaging: this chair has it all. holes for fasteners do not line up well enough to allow easy assembly. If one has on hand a rubber mallet, furniture clamps, and something to club the casters into place, aside from a certain patience with gob-smacking idiocy and South Asian quality control a reasonably attractive chair can be assembled from this ill-done scrap.Given the quality of the pieces and the ease of assembly due to inexplicable indifference, I expect this chair to fall into ruin within the year. Having assembled the whoreson monstrosity, I'd cut my throat rather than disassemble it for return. Instead, I'll keep it to remind me not to buy furniture online.Don't buy this if you have never put together furniture, if you lack husky upper body strength, or if idiocy annoys you overmuch.

Looks Good, Minor Design Flaw
I’ve owned this chair for just over a year now, and like many people I’ve been working from home so it’s seen a good amount of use.Overall, it’s been decent. It assembled easily, and seemed solid. Looks good. However, after about six months, the screws that hold the arms to the back started to work loose. This wouldn’t be a huge issue normally, except that the manufacturer provides wooden plugs to hammer in that cover the screw heads. With these in, there’s no way to tighten the screws without removing the plugs, which will damage them. Hoping if I pre-drill a hole, I can sink a drywall screw into the plugs just a bit to give me something to grab onto with pliers. But it seems like I shouldn’t have to go through this for a year-old product.

Good looking, comfortable, functions great
I don't know why some reviews said the seat was too hard. I bought a cushion to go with it but haven't felt the need to use it. Perhaps the company got the message over the years and improved the built-in cushion? Very comfortable, easy to adjust. Assembly was easy. We used casters ordered separately so that we could use this on wood floors without the need of a plastic mat. Getting those "after market" wheels installed was very difficult but all is well now. I've been using it for just over a month. I don't miss my higher-backed, more padded office chair at all. This is a piece of furniture that looks good in the room and is very comfortable. I do agree with other reviewers who recommend not tightening screws during assembly until every piece is in place. We followed that advice and had no problems.

Excellent chairs.
A big "YES" to these chairs. I bought 4 for around my old oak kitchen table - so easy to glide in and out from the table. I did take the advice of another purchaser and did not use the casters that come with the chair....I ordered roller blade wheels (which are now offered with the chair) and I'm glad I did. They glide beautifully across the kitchen floor (I have been known to zoom around the kitchen a bit to grab something off of the counter), make no sound, and are certainly kind to my kitchen floor laminate...no scratches or stress marks. The chairs are comfortable, sturdy and are great for sitting around after a meal talking and visiting....no need to move on to another room right away. Also, when working on a project, it's great to be able to raise the chair to a higher level to give a better angle.
