Love golden gesso works great !!!

everything was good, just what I wanted.

This gallon of gesso was shipped in a cardboard box . It was unwrapped and not in a plastic bag. The exterior looked beat up but fine. When I opened it, the top had opened and the box was filled with gesso. Some had dried and was hard, the rest was wet and sticky.Customer Service was great! I ordered a replacement which came, still without any wrapping, but intact. It is a great gesso and works perfectly for prepping a substrate. I would give it a 5 star rating, but because of the shipping problems, a 3 star rating split the difference between the 2 orders. If only the items came wrapped in plastic or contained in a bag within the shipping box the problem of leakage would be helped greatly.While the problem was resolved by customer service, the delay of 2 days to reorder caused problems in my work schedule, which is on a tight deadline.

Good stuff very effective

We recently decided to do a side by side comparison of this acrylic gesso and the Liquitex Acrylic Gesso. Both of those products gave us the sort of coverage and "toothiness" we were looking for but the Golden product seemed to generate a lot more tiny bubbles that required additional rolling out to eliminate. We used the same type of roller on both gessoes and both seemed to be similar in density and whiteness but the Golden product took us about a third longer to rollout to the sort of surface consistency we expected. If we didn't roll out these bubbles many of them would go away on their own but the ones that didn't often created small irregularities that we had to sand out once dried.

This gesso is a fine quality gesso, thick and bright. I'm disappointed in the shipping of the product. The packaging did not have any handling instructions and the box was clearly handled very roughly. The box was impacted on the side. When I opened the box the lid of the paint had cracked loose and about 8 oz of paint had leaked out. I would hesitate to order paint from this retailer in the future. Had the lid come off completely it would have been a total loss.

The media could not be loaded. I've used this gesso many times and have never had an issue with bubbles forming as shown in the video. The viscosity was also noticeably lower. I won't be using this gallon because I cannot justify the waste of time and potential risk to the longevity of my artwork.
