Great product!!
Great product!very easy to activate and it works perfectly. I've use it few times. Now is in a sleeping process in the fridge. But I do still feed it every week.Thank you.

Very disappointing. No life in it at all
I am a very experienced sourdough baker. After a break over the summer I decided to shortcut making my own starter and buy one. The instructions are poor and the starter has not reacted at all - no sign of life. I should have read the reviews before buying. Refund please!

The first kit didn’t work but the company communicated well, promptly; we received the replacement and it worked. The starter is now in constant use. Thank you.

Not bad
The product definitely looks bigger in the image, it comes with a link instructions online. The instructions MAY be a little bit inaccurate as it says it will activate a lot faster than it did, however this could possibly be due to conditions and yeast is not always going to work exactly how you want.

Starter failed to ferment
Never used freeze dried starter before so asked the company for instructions and was told add it to the water/ flour feed as you would normal starter. First day nothing, fed second day nothing, third day removed 150g of mix and fed and fourth day nothing.I’ve used regular starter in the past with no issues. Product is not eligible for replacement or refund. Not impressed at all.

Long use by date
I had never used a freeze dried starter before and I have been very impressed. The packaging is excellent and the use by date excellent as it gave me the opportunity to activate the starter when I wanted and not the moment it arrived in the post. The starter is progressing well.

Didn’t Work - Beware!
Like so many reviews have reported for this product this so-called starter was totally ineffective. Followed their instructions precisely and no change in mixture after 48hrs (no increase in size and no smell as would be expected). Somewhat evasive Instructions don’t say what should happen following the initial mixing of the ingredients. You take your chances with this expensive product and not eligible for return but eventually Amazon to their credit did refund me.

Freshly fermented 5, Recipe nul points
I bought the rye sourdough starter as all of my previous attempts at sourdough had ended in failure due to failed homemade starters. The Freshly fermented packet worked a treat - the instructions are good and easy to follow. Unfortunately, the recipe I used called for rye flour and cracked rye, which was difficult to find. So I bought rye grains and tried to crack them myself. I tried the food processor, the mortar and pestle and then the food processor again. I then soaked it. At any rate, I produced two beautifully risen and coloured loaves that broke your teeth when you bit into them because of the hardness of the rye. So, great job Freshly Fermented; bad job me. I haven't given up yet but will probably try a more basic recipe ! Theodora
