Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burdens alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus' growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable - ally within their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of the betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus' message turns violent. He's left with no alternative but to demand His followers RISE UP.

Incredible feeling watching this
Starting up to watch and you have to get used to all the actors, but as time goes on, I found myself incredibly mesmerized and being soaked into my screen like a poltergeist pulling me in. This series made me feel like I KNEW Jesus personally., he was human and his disciples also played excellent parts. I cried, I laughed at quirky jokes, I was amazed with the scenes and the way this engulfed me to believe even more than I have. I cant wait till Season Five....I was disappointed to find it stopped at 4!!! When is 5 coming out??.

Entertaining! Thought provoking! Faith building!
The Chosen is a deeply written and fantastically developed series and if you don't know what it is about, you probably won't be looking at Season 4. However, the show continues to escalate the intensity and is never afraid to address the hard questions that people raise about faith. Each season has been stronger and stronger. Season 4 really knocks it out of the park!

An entertaining way to better understand the beginning of Christianity
This set continues what is an amazing perspective on the life of Jesus Christ and His disciples. The main characters are very well acted and sympathetic. While it clearly has to imagine conversations and experiences not mentioned or expounded in the Bible and First Century teachings, it does so in a way that helps lay persons to understand the culture and politics of the time.

Good material
We hold a Bible class in our house and this was so useful for those that did not know the story of Jesus. We have passed them on to some new members to use and catch up.

The subtitles work on the set I bought last September - And this just keeps GETTING BETTER!
Though I own and love the first three seasons, I almost didn't get this one, for several reasons. I'm so glad I did! I'll focus this review on the reasons I almost didn't get it, since there are many other reviewers telling us about what a deeply moving Christian series this is - one that just keeps getting better and better, helping to deepen our love for Jesus, our Lord.1. English subtitles (a huge help for those of us who are hearing impaired) didn't work in an earlier version. Evidently they fixed that: it worked for all the episodes I watched. (On the advice of a friend, I skipped the third one on first CD - "not Biblical, violent, a downer" - but when I checked out that one's preview the subtitles worked, and they worked on all the others, which I did watch.)2. The Director, Dallas Jenkins, forewarned us that Season Four would be the most emotionally difficult of the seasons to watch. I was afraid it might be too rough for me to handle, but the same friend who advised me to avoid the 3rd episode loved the rest of it - and so do I! I am so glad I got it. There is a real depth and realism here. Those who have suffered (or are suffering now) will totally relate. And all will be moved by the profound depth and beauty of what is happening here. The disciples' support of each other, our Lord's deeply human feelings, and much more. And oh! the humour! "You want us to steal livestock?!" (St. Matthew, last episode, Palm Sunday morning) - it is priceless! (Followed by our Lord's wry, warm smile as Matthew is hauled off by the other apostle to complete their mission.)I've finished my list of reasons why I almost didn't get this. But I'll add another comment: The role of Mary, Jesus' Mother, is played with a delicately subtle depth in this fourth season that I missed earlier, and find deeply moving here. All told: BRAVO! Thank you, all of you who are making this series!
