Works with Waveshare SIM7600G-H-M.2 and IoT 4G LTE sim cards from 2 different vendors
I installed this with the preferred orientation with the antenna on top. I tried both TALKSIM and EIOTCLUB SIM cards. Both cards worked. Curiously, when switching SIMS, it seemed that stopping the driver, pressing the reset button on the HAT, and then restarting the driver wasn't enough to allow the second SIM to connect. I had to reset the RPi. YMMV.

Does NOT do PCIe to the M.2 slot, otherwise does what it advertises
Bought this hat elsewhere for the explicit purpose of using a PCIe only M.2 5G card with my Pi.Unfortunately I have found that it only offers USB connectivity to the M.2 card. It will not to PCIe. The PCIe connectivity from the Pi is just to connect to the onboard USB chip which is split between the type A ports and the M.2 slot.Sadly this is not out of the norm but many manufacturers don't explicitly make note of this, Waveshare included. That all aside, with the understanding that this will only work with USB capable M.2 cards, it does exactly what it is advertised for. I do have some other cards I have tested with that are USB capable and they work fine.
