Good driving; annoying sounds; not particularly durable
This big olive drab battle HumVee was an instant hit. The kids discovered the power switch instantly, and drove it around guns a-blazing to a variety of pretend battles. It did not pass the 'parental annoyance' test. The noises were loud and annoying and not particularly lifelike; they sounded like computer generated rhythmic noise. We popped the battery out, which both provoked a tantrum and diminished the kids' interest in this particular toy by about 90%.On the positive side, it looks like a humvee and the roof pops open, allowing soldiers to be put in, although our boy thought what really belonged there was a Hot Wheels car. So it joined the panoply of mid sized trucks. Being mostly plastic and not steel, it suffered in the inevitable demolition derby and looks to be headed for an early retirement.

My kids favorite
My two boys love this toy and it's held up during tug of war fights, excessive play, and a bout of rain. I appreciate the detail, the size, and just how nice it looks. It doesn't look like a cheap, toy, I don't cringe seeing it on my TV console. Really happy I came across it and so are my kids. We've gone through alot of vehicles and this is their favorite.

A little smaller than expected.
I'll get the only downside out of the way up front. Going by the pictures in the ad, I figured that this was probably a good ten inches or so long. It is not. It fits in the palm of my hand., maybe 6 inches or so overall. That being said, I was the only one let down by the size. I got this for my nephew, and he loves it! He is 3, almost 4, and spent the afternoon playing with it while I was visiting their house. The headlights flash, and it makes plenty of battle noises while being played with. Doors open, as well as the roof hatch. Overall, it's still a win!

did not work, broken parts..
I ordered this to send to my 4 yr. old nephew in the Philippines. He loves cars and trucks, so I thought he would enjoy this Humvee toy. When I received it, it was broken. The machine gun on the roof was loose in the pack. That did not bother me so much since I don't really care for guns on kids toys anyway, so not a big deal. However, when the lights and sounds did not work also, I knew we had a quality control problem. The slip of paper was in place between the batteries during shipping, so of course I removed it before trying the lights. I then proceeded to take the screws out that held the body to the chassis and discovered the wire to the battery pack had come off. (poor soldering job). Again not a big deal. I am a DIY guy and can solder it back and everything should work. Nope still does not work. The batteries must be bad. They are not common batteries, and by this time I had given up on this thing. I will just put it all back together and give it to him without lights and sounds. I am sure his parents will be happy about that anyway. The construction of the toy is pretty good. Hard sturdy plastic body with flexible plastic bumpers. The side doors open well and the hatch on the roof also opens. That will probably get stuffed full of army men or rocks, or who knows what. The tires are actual rubber knobby tires, so it should have pretty good traction. The friction motor works well, and it goes for a long distance before stopping. The details are pretty true to the original Humvee used by the Army. It is decked out in full camo and looks pretty cool.I know my nephew in the Philippines will appreciate this toy even though the lights and sounds are not working, but kids in the states may not.For the money I am sure you could find a better toy, but I may have just got one that is broken. Other reviews seem to be happy with this toy, so it may be worth taking a chance...
