Only some parts are steel… the rest of the build is plastic. Even then, I’ll keep it in the car. The “black” part of the build is a thin stamped piece of metal. There are 2 and they make a sandwich covering the internals of the ratchet. The 2 sides are held together by rivets. The “yellow” boarder is made out of plastic. The actual ratchet section is metal.The usage is really effective for scissors jacks - it makes the turning action more intuitive, rather than using the makeshift tire iron and hook contraption. It may not be “faster” per se but it is “easier”. I’ll probably get one for each vehicle.
