Does its job!
Our fish tank is 75 gallon with a variety of cichlids. Last winter our heater went out and we lost all of them. After a few months this heater is still going strong. Our basement is very cold because of had insulation and this thing keeps it right at about 78 with no issues! Would recommend for sure!

Whistling sound - Hygger does not honor warranty for products sold on Amazon
Update - The seller has contacted me and will be sending out a replacement.I bought this heater in preparation for setting up a 90 gallon show tank. I liked the fact that it has its own digital display and you can easily set the temp. When the heater turns on it has what sounds like a very loud solenoid that clicks on and off, much more so than other heaters. This is a minor thing, but what has happened is it has a loud whining/whistling sound when it turns on, which is likely due to a seal leak. Upon investigating the cause for the noise it seems like this is a common thing with their heaters. Because of the delay in setting up the tank I didn't realize it was defective until 2 weeks outside the Amazon return window. I went to Hygger's website to contact them and found the following language "Note: All sales from Amazon, Walmart, and eBay (except Usmagob, Jnkany, AquaFocus, Hysupplies, and Hygmarine) do not qualify for any warranty coverage. " So make sure you are buying from one of these vendors.

Good quality, zero complaints
I had the black and orange one and it was a little glitchy, ended up ordering this one and it has been spot on. Have it in the sump of a 136 gallon total volume salt water tank. Zero complaints. The temp control is very accurate and consistent. Had it 6 months now and it hasn’t missed a beat.

So Far So Good, A Few Minor Issues
I have a whole series of aquariums. That means that I need to have a lot of heaters and back up heaters handy in case one needs replacing. I got this as a backup heater after testing it out in my 75gallon tank.CASEThe case of this heater is attractive to me because it has small openings which to not trap snails which I have had issues with from other heaters. It seems to be protective of smaller fish although there are not too many of those in the 75 gallon I got it for.CORD AND PLUGThis takes a 3 prong plug, so be sure you have that available with room for it to fit on your strip. The cord is substantial and not thin in nature.CONTROLSI am not sure how I feel about this. The tank I got this for does not have anywhere to hang the controls from. I really don't want the controls on the outside of the tank as it detracts from my view of the fish. I might put a hook on the wall for it, I am unsure. The controls are nice in that they lock and are easy to use. The only thing I am not too fond of is the display. It can be hard to see from across the room. I am always looking and keeping track of my heaters, so this can be frustrating.TEMPERATUREThe temperature seems to be stable and consistent with this in the time I tested it. No issues there.SUCTIONI make sure that I wipe the wall down in the tank with a cloth so that the suction cups will stick. So far so good.SIZEThis is a big heater. It will take up some space. This probably won't be a problem for most people with this large of a tank requirement, but I wanted to mention it.MEMORYA big selling point for me is memory function. I really appreciate that it remembers the temperature after power failures.THE BOTTOM LINEThis is a decent heater with just a few minor issues for me.MY RATINGThe difficulty of reading the display and the bulky control and cord just had me take off one star. I still recommend this so far, howecer, as it performs well. The issues I have are not deal breakers. Hygger is usually a decent company to deal with.

Does not produce enough heat
This is the second 800 watt heater I am returning. It shuts off constantly and does not produce enough heat. My pond is currently 66 degrees in California where it’s sunny, but it is set for 78 degrees. Do NOT recommend.
