Quality Purchase, Life Easier!
Would I buy it again? Absolutely! This being my second PAL 5200 Submersible Pump from Alpine Corporation in the past 14 years, I am very pleased with my choice and this product. This pump meets the product descriptions given by the manufacture as selling points to purchase this pump, or a like pump from Alpine. The pump is compact, sturdy, and for as long as they have run, I would say well designed. The pump has performed quite satisfactorily producing the power, flow, and lift that I was needing for 3 fountains, while operating very quietly, almost unheard (it is submerged)! Although a relatively clean pond, deer and birds drink from the raised fountains and leave behind their residual effects which pose no problems for the pump. With heavy minerals in our well water (Hard Water), I surmise that my first pump froze up due to a mineral build-up; otherwise, it is likely the pump would still be running. Having had an issue with my pump, I did contact Alpine Corporation’s Customer Service. Their staff, and especially Ms. Delima, have been extremely helpful and considerate. After providing them with pictures and receipt of past purchase, they have responded quickly, professionally, and with consideration for my dilemma. The fact that you can reach someone at Alpine Pumps (email exchange) is reason alone to use their pumps! Great product!

Works great
The pump works great and my first one lasted about 4 years until the impeller and housing wore out. It lasted much longer than other pumps I had used.

A Very Satisfied Buyer!
We bought this pump for our Pond in Oct 2021, and it worked great for almost 3 years, with no problems --until a month ago when it stopped working out of the blue. Alpine gives a 3 year warranty on their product, and since it was still under warranty, I filed a claim.I have to say that I haven't encountered such a professional Company like Alpine in a very long time. I say this because of the top notch manner in which Alpine Customer Service (Karen) handled my claim. The whole process was easy to do online, and Alpine responded very quickly to my emails and claim. Within less than 2 weeks ( most of due to my delay) I received word that Alpine would be sending me a BRAND NEW PUMP! ( all I had to do was pay $25 for the shipping! So the bottom line is, I'll always buy Alpine products in the future, because I now TRUST Alpine will honor their warranty commitment, and stand behind their products. It was a good pump, that worked great for me for almost 3 years.

Pump works as described and has warranty!
This is the 2nd pump I've bought from them in 10 to 15 years and I'm very impressed that the quality of the product remains exceptional. The pump came within 2 days of ordering and even had adapter pieces to fit any size hose. Comes with a 5 year warranty. 5 stars from me, a returning customer.

I’d buy it again in a minute.
I’ve been using this pump in zone 5 for two years now. It’s pumping uphill roughly 20’ on a steep slope and you can see the substantial outflow in the photo. I have put this pump through pretty harsh conditions: overheated it twice, let it freeze solid in the pond last winter, let it run for more than 24 hours at a time, power cycle about 4 times every day, ran it with restricted flow for hours, and used it to pump out clay-rich water with no filter. I even got a rock stuck in the impeller. By all rights, this pump should be long dead. The photo was taken at the time of this review and you can see it hasn’t slowed down at all. Note: I am using a full 3” pvc outflow line and a fully encapsulating filter I made of batting and plywood frame. The filter also has a pressure release valve to allow full flow through a larger gauge mesh if the regular filter material gets clogged. All of that is to say that for the majority of the time, the pump runs unrestricted. I have an ~1300 gallon pond with goldfish and koi, and do full water replacement once annually in the spring. Other than that, a single layer of batting surround this pump is the only filtration I use. (If you use batting, make sure you make a VERY rigid frame for it in such a way that it can’t be sucked into the intake. I finally settled on a design that worked, but the pump literally crushed the first 4 attempts due to the strong vacuum it created!)In all, this pump is a very good value: truly submersible for long periods, very high powered for koi pond applications, very durable, and easy to service (the body separates by rotating on its axis without compromising the seal to the motor.)If this pump ever dies, I’ll just order the exact same one. Good luck!

Best pump on the market!
Just wanted to say I have had this same pump running 24/7 for 10 years with no issue I cannot give it a higher recommendation or I certainly would. I love these Alpine Pumps

doesn't last
I purchased this pump for my pond in July of 2023. it is now May 2025 and it no longer works. This is the second one I have purchased and again only lasts for about a year and 1/2 before it just stops working. The pump just freezes up and won't run. I will not purchase another one, I will be looking for one that will do the job for longer than 1 to two years, and I don't even run it in the winter, I take it out, clean it off and store it.
