Application
Excellent product, color good, easy to apply

Easy to apply, creamy, nice pigment, sets down, & lasts!
Basic Points:-Standard pencil (not automatic/twist up)-Shade seems to match the product photos of the shade shown on the lips, so I’d go by that when selecting a shade and not by the shade description-Nice formula - Creamy, doesn’t tug or skip. Enough time to blend it out if you want, but then dries down and sets and lasts. Doesn’t feel dry on lips at all, even after it sets.-Pricey for lip liner. Nothing special I can’t get at drugstore prices. But, I struggle finding shades that work for me and this one works well, so that’s worth it to me. But aside from price, no complaints! This comes in a nice outer product box. It’s made in Czech Republic. Ingredients are listed on it.This is a standard pencil (not automatic/twist up). I’m usually not a big fan of standard pencils, but I don’t mind it as much with lip liners because they’re easier to keep sharpened well.I am fair with a very cool undertone and muted skin. It’s hard for me to find good shades of lip liners. Anything with even a hint of warmth will look even warmer on my very cool toned skin. So, finding a shade is hard enough, picking one online is even harder. I liked that the shades actually had shade descriptions, but, I’ve found with a lot of brands, their shade descriptions and/or product photos can be pretty off.I was struggling between the shade “Elegant Blush,” which was described as a “cool nude pink,” which sounded perfect for me being described as a cool tone or “Plush Pink,” which was described as a “deep rosey brown,” which also sounds like a shade that would work for me. But, here’s the thing. “Elegant Blush,” while being described as a “cool nude pink,” in the product photos it looked like a warm toned peachy kind of shade. Not at all cool looking. The shade “Plush Pink,” described as a “deep rosey brown” didn’t look “deep” at all, more like a medium or light to medium shade. But, it did look like a rosey brown and didn’t look warm toned. So, I decided to go with that and hoped it would work well for me and not be warm toned. In person, it does look like a rosey brown that doesn’t look warm toned, even on my very cool toned skin. Even on my fair skin it is a medium toned shade. Not too light, not too deep. The shade does actually appear to match the product photos of the shade shown on the lips, so I’d go by that when selecting a shade and not by the shade description (even though mine did turn out to be a “rosey brown”).The formula is really nice. It’s creamy, but not too creamy. It’s creamy enough to glide onto my lips without pulling or skipping. Creamy enough where I have a little time to smudge/blend the shade if I want to (in my photo of the swatch, I did 1 single line and then did a thicker line to show the shade better, and lightly blended the right side of it with my finger). It does set down shortly after and stays put after that. It doesn’t feel dry on my lips at all.I really like this! I’m someone that loves makeup, but I feel like there’s some things I don’t need to spend more than drugstore prices on, and lip liners is one of those products. I’m able to get the same result from drugstore liners I know and love. But, I can’t always find a shade that works well for me. So, I’m willing to spend a little more for that. But, if you’re not someone that struggles finding a shade, I don’t think it’s necessary to spend this much on a lip liner. But, if the price isn’t a factor, it’s a great formula. I give it 5 stars.

Same Lip Liner. New Name due to rebranding.
So happy to have found my favorite lip liner which now has a new name due to Laura Mercier’s rebranding. If you are looking to find the lip liner that use to be called “Red Chocolate” this is the exact same thing. It is now called “Rosewood”

Smooth, soft long lasting lip liner
This was my first time trying a Laura Mercier lip pencil and it did not disappoint. The pencil goes on smooth, the color is very pigmented and it has some serious staying power. I ordered the pencil in Dusty Mauve and while the color is pretty, it has more of a reddish-orange tone to it, at least on my skin tone. I was hoping for something with a little more pink and purple tones so I'm going to give Rosewood a try.

Too expensive!
Goes on nicely but not any better than a $15 brand.Very overpriced

Super smooth!
This lip liner is smooth and precise. The cool brown shade is versatile and pairs beautifully with various lip colors. A luxurious addition to my makeup collection. I love to pair this with a nude lipstick or sheer gloss!

Color is nice
The Laura Mercier Caviar Perfecting Lip Liner is a pencil style lip liner that needs to be sharpened. I find it easy to apply and the color is close to the color depicted in the product images. I am used to using lipstick that stays on even when eating, wiping with a napkin, etc. so by comparison this does not have the staying power of that. Seems reasonable compared to other lip liners although it seems a little pricey for not even having a roll up design.
