Hape Quadrilla Wooden Marble Run Construction The Luge Wooden Marble Run Add-On Set, 2 Pieces

I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. I have absolutely no idea what it's for; although, I do know it has something to do with marbles. No matter, my nephew was over-the-moon with it.

This is a cool piece but it is huge. My kids love playing with the melody set and wanted to add on a piece like this that is shown in the instructions book we have, wish this one was the size shown in the booklet as it would be useful for more track set ups. This piece takes over the whole track because if its size and didn't add to the set we have very well. Good quality like all the quadrilla pieces but not as useful as I had hoped.

My son and I have been big fans of Hape's Quadrilla Marble Runs for a long time. We've built every possible combination of the Whirlpool set time and time again. We were thrilled to get several "expansion" accessories to enhance our already awesome experience with these solid, wooden marble runs. The Whirlwind, the Luge, and the Speedway Set have ramped up our ability to create incredibly creative contraptions. What we love to do is create the exact same ramp on two sides, converging to one point, and race our marbles to that finish spot. While the Whirlpool set was fun to do this, we only had one Whirlwind and one Luge. Now we have at least two of each to increase the fun exponentially! When we really get after it, we'll split our marbles by color (he's blue and I'm red) and use several of the "switching" pieces (like the High-Velocity Seesaw in the Speedway Set and the special switching red pieces in both sets) to see who can get all of his color of marble to the end the fastest.We keep our marble run kit under our family room couch (for quick access!), and one of the most fun nights we've had recently was elongating the run as much as we possibly could. Most of the time we build up and out. This time we extended the run, using almost every piece we have from multiple sets, and got to probably 20 feet (I really don't think I'm exaggerating!). We'd try the fast version (using the high-velocity seesaw at the beginning and then all possible accelerators throughout) and the slow version (removing all possible speed-increasing pieces to still get it to the end). Of course, in the interest of continually outdoing ourselves, we had to add on a large Lego Duplo tunnel with a "trap" at the end of the course. =-)One of the things I both love and find fascinating about these marble runs is the fact that along all of the rails and even down most of the Whirlwind, a marble is moved forward solely by inertia, not by gravity. The rails are not slanted. This means that if you place a marble directly on a rail, it won't move. The force is created by the marble falling through the blocks and hitting the accelerators. Maybe some don't find that interesting, but I do! As we have done many a time with these sets, keep outdoing yourself, Hape!

Why do they call this 2 spiral?!!!! It is only one spiral! This is very misleading.I gave it 3 stars because it is well made and quite large, but I am certainly disappointed that there is only one.

Got this as an add-on to the Hape Music Motion set. Quality piece, a bit bigger than I was anticipating based on the picture but works fine with our set. After having the music set, our son wanted a spiral so this was a great alternative to buying a whole new other set.

Be aware. This is for ONE whirlwind only not two. The title is very misleading. Very disappointed to have just one when I thought I ordered a 2 spiral pack.
