Q: Is this knife dishwasher safe?

My family puts it in the dishwasher but it's such a wonderful knife that I just do it by hand every time I use it. I bought these for family members and they all put it in their dishwashers.

Q: Can I use it as a bread knife?

Yes. This knife would be perfect as a small bread knife for rolls, biscuits, etc. The blade is SUPER sharp. It works great on Tomatoes too. Every home needs at least one of these, imo.

Q: On which side is the bevel?

what a foolish question, its on the side that's not flat dummy! This is the greatest knife ever created for carrying along for picnics to cut fruit hard or soft. It's rounded shape allows it to be a great tools to spread butter, jam etc. It's forever sharp and travels well with it's safety sheath

Q: Would this knife work at slicing the top of my bread dough before going into the oven. Would it tear the dough,or sharp enough not to.

I have actually used this knife to score the top of raw dough. It wouldn't do for a very soft, wet dough but then nothing does that well. I've even used a razor blade held by small pliers for that. On a more firm or whole grain loaf it did OK when held nearly horizontal. However, if you get this knife you will just love it for thin-slicing tomatoes and soft fruits, splitting bagels or buns etc. It took years to wear out my first one and I have also bought them as gifts. Messermeister makes a great line of high end knives as well as these very good less expensive ones. Their customer service dept in Ojai, CA is top notch too.
