Do monks, brothers, nuns, sisters wear them ? Yes, but not around the neck. They were it on the side of the hip, attached to belt or rope. The reason why, is because they pray often many times a day. To wear it around your neck, better be for the right reasons. To wear it around your neck you better justify that with multiple rosaries a day, and not all in the same location. Why? Then, and only then could I see that as possible. It is not fashion statement. And you also could fall into the Sin of Scandal. You are scandalizing your fellow Catholics by wearing it, who are saddened and offended that Our LORD JESUS CHRIST, has to see, the gift of the Holy Rosary and the Beads they represent, being profaned. To avoid this, make sure you really need them, on your neck, with many rosaries, in many places. Or, just take the crucifix off, attach an a double-sided smooth tip o-ring and a cord to crucifix ... I am at work right now so I cannot tell you exactly how long it is but must be about 20 inches long. I have worn it around my neck and it is NOT like a choker, it is a beautiful Rosary that can be worn as such.
