A Simple Dice Chucker for Children
This is a nice simple game about rolling and re-rolling dice and placing to claim victory points (or invalidate someone's claim/alter victory point values). It uses tiny tiny, flimsy cardboard pens, and a LOT of tiny cardboard tokens. For how simple this is, it looks pretty intimidating at first due to the huge amount of tokens. Personally I think a counter (ala King of Tokyo) would have been less messy, but whatever. The tokens are functional. The core of the game is about rolling and re-rolling those dice and chasing the high numbers, but there's lots of "take that" because it's relatively easy to invalidate someone's claim or change the value to hurt them. In that way this game is actually pretty aggressive.Build value and theme are sadly absent here. There's no character powers, and the theme REALLY feels tacked on. I know the game is trying to be simple, but it's so simplistic and non-thematic I think we can safely relegate this one to kids as long as they don't get too frustrated. At the original price this game wasn't really worth it, but for the current going price it's fine to buy for your kids if they like fast and frantic games and like throwing dice. Just make sure they like/don't mind the extreme amount of pink in this game.

Fun Game
My kids love this game! My 6, 8, 10, and 12 year olds can play it without adult help. Game play is rather quick. It isn’t a long and drawn out game. They think it is great fun.

Hated the game... complicated.
This game is not for us. My 9yr old, gf, and I all tried to play this and ill be honest, the D&D and RPG esque type games and stuff just arent for us. We tried to follow the instructions many times and just dont like this game. Not for us. We d rather pick up and just play.

I'm not sure if I want to give this a 3.5-star or a 4-star. It was better than okay a easy to learn and play.
First...we play a lot of games, so we have to put this feedback into that context.Second...the other reviewers saying this is too complex with too many parts a) must not have played the game as there is nothing to it; and b) sure there are point tokens, but see my pictures, there isn't a lot to this game.HOW TO PLAY OVERVIEW:Each player is going to get dice of their color. Also you hvae a "box" to roll your dice into. Thus, you take your dice, roll them, and place a die in an area/"district" on the board. Then reroll, and place another die...(you are trying to get as many dice out before you or someone else flips the timer).Depending on your roll you can do different actions. For instance, a 5 or 6 you can claim an area and move the slider; 1 or 2 will knock someone else's die into the middle, effectively opening up that spot for you to claim more points. As soon as one player is done placing all their dice, they are going to flip the timer and place their box to "guard"/claim an area and nobody else can put his or her dice there. Then after 10-more seconds for players to do final rolls and die placement (because the timer was flipped when claiming an area)...then scoring begins. Whoever has the most dice pips in a district wins that area's award...if there is an award for that area (each area is different). After scoring, then record points, turn the round marker and rotate the board so players have a new selection directly in front of them...though they could still reach over and place dice on the other districts available.COMPONENTS: 3.5/5Great dice with nice colors...though I'm always a fan of rounded edges for better rolling vs. sharp edges. But I still like the dice a lot.The "box" for rolling is almost laughable to create the "frame" for you to roll in and then place that around a district. It does the job but is strange and almost too thin. The board itself has to snap together like a puzzel and having to snap and unsnap these between plays can start to wear on the board. Thus if it was thicker it would be more durable. In its current state it is a bit thin to the point that I'm sure how well it will work after 50+ plays.THEME: 1/5Abstract game of dice rolling. Thus the theme could be anything as it really is nothing in this game.I wish there was a way that Jelly Monsters and we as players (or whatever our dice are supposed to represent) had more of a connection. For instance in the game Alien Frontiers it is all about the dice rolling. The dice represent your spaceships. But even though dice look nothing like your spaceships, the gameboard and overall mechanics seem to click more and give more theme to a dice-chucking-worker-placement game than this one did for me.STRATEGY: 3/5Lots and lots of luck because it is all about dice rolling. The strategy is if you want to use a die now and place it and hope you get a different roll that better helps you claim your points. Also strategy comes into play as you look to leverage what the other players are doing and/or block the other players.REPLAYABILITY: 5/5The district/area pieces are double-sided and you could have a nice variety of combinations of districts to claim your different awards in each area. This is nice, as you can apply a variety of strategies the first dozen plays or so. Actually, it will take a good dozen plays to try all the different districts for point claiming and player blocking, thus making no two games exactly the same for a while, as you have to leverage multiple spots with your supply of dice.TIME TO PLAY: 4/5I love that this is quick, but it is almost too quick to play a full four rounds in 15-minutes, which is how long it takes us.It feels like if there was a deeper game here then we'd be more like a 30-minute game. But there is something to be said about having these quick "filler" games of dice rolling chaos and speed placement.PLAYER COUNT: 4/5I think this works best with the max of 5 players so there is more variety in spots to place your dice. There is less interaction and messing with the other players in a three-player game, but not a huge disparity.OVERALL: 4/5Better than just okay for me.I don't know how often this type of game will make it to the table for us, as we like to dive right into meatier games and we've even built foam inserts from some heavy games so we can setup these big games in 2min or less. SIDENOTE: No insert provided with this box and the box is too big for all the parts. At least they provided a couple of extra bags for the tokens. But this game is easy enough to teach non-games, which is a plus...so I bumped this up a half-star for its accessibility to non-gamers.
