It should work! And work really well! It works well with my 6.5 inch iPhone, and the 1.25 inch diameter eyepieces on my Meade telescope. According to the on-line data, the Celestron 130eq has 1.25 inch eyepieces; so, it should work well! I also use an app called Halide that lets me manually select the telephoto 3x camera over the 1x and 0.5x cameras, and to manually select the exposure. The 3x camera gives a full frame image with no vignetting. A moon photo does not need exposure control; but a planetary photo does because the dark sky causes the planet to be overexposed!
