I purchased a Seagate external hard drive in 2012 (12 years ago) now in 2024 it suddenly stopped working, I purchased this adapter, as soon as I connected it, my Seagate showed up and I was able to recover all my data!!! Needles to say, I'm super happy with Seagate and just purchased another one of their hard drive that also works with this adapter and off course, I'm super happy with this adapter and I will try it in other older hard drives that I have. Highly recommended!!!

I often have upgraded my hard drives usually 2 at a time. To my surprise it was as easy to use. It hooked up and allowed my to pull music some 500 songs and about 60 precious pictures I thought I lost. Some idea of hard drive interfaces Parallel ide.SATA AND LAPTOP UPGRADING IS REQUIRED BUT THATS THE HARD PART. The product does what purports and very well.Small and a few cables easily store in one small pouch or small plastic case.

I had a stack of old IDE and SATA drives from over the years. I ordered this and was able to retrieve a large amount of data from the drives that still wanted to talk to me.I'd recommend this.

Have an old Dell 4550 tower type of PC that has two hard drives; original and one I added. Fired up the PC but forgot I needed the new service pack of XP. Did not want to use the PC just wanted to save the photos from the HD units. XP software was not something I wanted to spend $$$ on. Purchased this transfer unit and it was so easy to use. Looked up how to pull the HD's from my PC on YouTube. Connected the drive to the appropriate connection on the HD adaptor, connected the USB cable to the adaptor and my current PC. Then connected the power supply and turned it on. In 30 seconds I was looking at the files on the old HD unit. Transferred to my current PC.....took about two hours. Suggestions....first, scan the old HD for any potential virus. Then Copy the files from the HD to your PC....do not move. That way if there is an issue....the files are still on the old Drive. I am not a tech person, just someone that can follow directions and YouTube instructions. EASY!

This little gadget worked fine for downloading folders from two older hard drives but then just quit. It will not turn on. I contacted manufacturer and the folks there were no help at all. They told me to just push the on/off button. Duh - already told them it worked for two hard drives but then quit. They also gave me a half dozen other possible remedies which had nothing to do with getting it working again. So, I can only send it back to see if the warranty will be honored or Amazon will send me a new one. Too bad it quit working: It was very useful when up and running plus very easy to use.
