Install for a beginner is possible just read the instructions.
Installed on a 12' wide by 9' tall garage door that was insulated. The opener is very quiet. If you are directly underneath the opener you will hear a small hum when it is opening and closing. The eyes are very easy to aim at each other using the pinch style clamps that were included with the kit. I will definitely be installing another one on my main garage door once the current one (an older genie screw drive) starts showing signs that it is going out. If you can, try to wait for this thing to go on sale for less than $350 (it happens from time to time). The most time intensive task for me was cleanly routing wiring so it looked like I didn't do it. Note depending on where you want the push button installed the wire included in the kit may not be long enough. The lock works great and does not look cheesy. It helped having some step drill bits to drill the holes through the guide rail to mount the lock. I haven't tried out the release handle and hopefully I never need to. This opener is installed in a back garage that is not operated everyday but instead is used a few times a week. Also this opener does work with generic chamberlain remotes available on ebay. The remote pairing is very straight forward and is done using the wired button opener. It also allows you to wipe the memory if you have a remote that no longer needs to be linked but you will have to re-pair all active remotes.Overall, the opener works well and is relatively quiet. It feels securely locked when the deadbolt slams into place and the range on the remotes it pretty far (like 125ft).

So much better than a overhead opener
The only down side I find is it's a bit slower than a normal opener. I have two doors so I have two of these openers. The first one took a bit longer than expected to install. ( it is the first opener I ever have installed) The second one went up amazingly fast with no issues. The pro's are...It's quiet... very quiet compared to my old chain drive master mechanic opener.Really pretty easy to install alone.Easy to program. The open head room compared to a normal overhead unit is worth the extra money in my opinion. The con's...Price obviously like for like this will cost you twice as much. If you like your head room it's worth it in my opinion.Chamberline technical service is a bit tuff to get ahold of. You have to go through a bunch of automated online self help stuff then eventually it will put you in a que to message with a live person. All in all took well over an hour to get a answer that should have been in the troubleshooting guide.

Different breed to install but great!
There's almost no noise at all!All I hear is my door. The tensioner works really well. The locking mechanism noise is fun to hear too.I really really really recommend crescent wrenches when installing! Some really really tight spots where a regular wrench won't do.The internet gateway works much better than I thought it would, typically hard time connecting but this was fantastic (using Google wifi too). All the right lengths of wires were sent and everything was preprogrammed to work together, I'm impressed. The motor is strong, I have to adjust my torsion spring because I think it's on too tight. When the motor picks up the door, I can hear the spring bouncing which is a strong indication is too tight.FYI, my last opener died because the spring broke (40yrs old) and the opener hopped of the rail catcher and killed itself. No worries, no one was hurt but it was a lot of crazy loud noises. I installed the spring between getting this one, hence why it needs to be adjusted.Overall, the opener took 2 hours install including taking down the old one.5 year parts is fantastic, parts includes the logic board if it ever goes out.

Great GDO but DON'T use the metal wire clips!
I really like this Garage Door Opener (GDO) because it is much quieter than any I have ever owned and it reduces the clutter on the ceiling. I installed it on my own and had to remove my old belt drive Chamberlain GDO, so it took quite a while over a couple of days. (I worked slow - the temperature in my garage was over 100F! Plus, I added plastic cable channels to hide some wiring.)I followed the example of another reviewer where I installed the new GDO but only disengaged the old one so I could verify everything before making the final commitment. As such, I had the control wires (one from the wall switch and two from the safety sensors) very loosely pinned to walls/ceilings. After verifying my installation and removing the old GDO, I then went about tidying up all the wiring. To my horror, the lights went out on the safety sensors, rendering the opener inoperable! This occurs when there is a short in one or more wires. After some cursing and removing most of the wire clips, I found one that had obviously damaged the wire. A quick splice using wire nuts and I was back in business. The wire clips that come with unit are cheap, cheap, cheap but worse, are made from metal. It is very easy to damage the wires that they are holding. Do yourself a favor and go to your local hardware store and buy some plastic wire clips that are designed for bell wire.I'm not sure why some reviewers say it's not WiFi compatible. Yes, you must plug the Internet Gateway into your router and the unit communicates over its own protocols but you still can control the GDO from a browser or a smart phone. I don't consider that to be an impediment.Final note, the security locking feature is nice but does make a solid "clang" when it engages. It is quiet when it dis-engages - just wish it was a little quieter when it locks.
