Tested! Works very well on car windows and seat belts.
When I got these, I thought I had been ripped off. I put on some safety glasses and some leather gloves and tried it out on some jars we had in the garage. It didn't break a single one. All it did was put a little chink in the glass and that was it.As fate would have it, about six months later my old clunker that I haul firewood in finally bit the dust. I sold it to a salvage yard. When they came to tow it away, the tow truck driver said he was going to take it straight to the metal smasher and encouraged me to take the battery or anything else I wanted out of it. Told him that I had this ResQme window escape gadget that I wanted to try on an actual car. He said go ahead. First, I cut the seat belt. Amazingly easy to do. Then the window. My expectations were so low that I didn't even put gloves on. I did have my 'readers' on, but they were not the safety glasses I had used when initially trying the ResQme against the fruit jars. Standing on the outside of the car with the driver's side door open, I put my hand on the inside of the passenger window in the backseat and pressed. People . . . . it was like an explosion. The glass seemed to shoot out everywhere. I was completely caught off guard and it showed because the tow truck guy was laughing his tail off. At this juncture I was more concerned with cleaning up the mess and not looking like some kind of street thug breaking into a parked vehicle. The gas station owners came out to see what all the commotion was about and why I so desperately wanted to borrow their broom and dust pan. They took great interest in the ResQme as did the tow truck driver. Conclusion, it works very, very well.

Super handy tool that everyone should have
I bought a couple of these in June and have one hanging on a clip in my wife's car and one in my truck so they are always ready if needed. While driving to work last week in LA I came upon an 4 vehicle accident and as I got closer to the scene I could see people still in a small car that had been hit from behind by a large tow truck and was badly damaged. I pulled over with several others to see if I could help. Once I got to the car it was obvious that all 4 doors could not be opened because of the impact of the crash and there was a mother with 3 children in the car. I ran back to my truck to get this tool as others were trying to get the doors open or break out the windows. I was able to on the second attempt pop the rear window where a baby in a child seat was trapped and another person pulled the baby out. We then went to the other side where a boy around 2 years old was stuck in his child seat and there was no way to undo the seat belt due to the damage to the car. I used the seat belt cutting part of this tool and it sliced through it so effortlessly it was great. It still took a while to get this child free but we finally got him out and it did not seem that anyone had any major injuries. Without this tool in hand I would have felt pretty helpless to be looking in a car with a mother and 3 children and thinking that the car could catch fire at any time as it was smoking from the fluids leaking from the engine where they had made impact with truck in front as well. I love tools in general but this one made one hell of an impression on me after this morning commute on the 210 freeway. Hope the family is doing well. Now I will be buying a bunch more to give to family members.

works well, for what it is. a small, unobtrusive safety device.
the resqme came with a split ring included, which was a nice surprise. the product works as described. the attaching device is secure and it takes a firm grasp and sharp yank to release the resqme. the blade was sharp and cut easily through a taut sample of webbing that i had that is equivalent to an actual seat belt. i tested the glass breaking feature and found that it worked properly, unlike some other reviews that i read.the one concern that i have is the size of the resqme. i know it is meant to be small and unobtrusive and fit on a key chain, but i have a large hand (i use L-XL gloves) and holding the resqme was a struggle because my thumb would cover the cutting path when it felt comfortable in my hand. i am not sure if i would be able to deploy the product in a stressful situation and hold on to it while trying to cut the seat belt or pressing against the inside of the glass without losing my grip while maneuvering to use the resqme. in addition, if i was in a situation where i was submerging in water and was able to free myself from my seat belt, i would have to readjust my grip to cut the straps on my child's car seat and use the cutting device in a different orientation.to be critical, it is not obvious what end does what on the product. the visual cues for the glass breaking feature are not visible. non-mechanically inclined individuals may not know which end is the working end for the glass breaking feature. i showed it to a family member and described what it was then gave them the resqme and showed them the features and how to use it properly. their response was, "it's a good thing you told me that, because i was gonna put my thumb on the big black part and press the small black part onto the glass." again, i am being critical.having said that, i am glad that i have something just in case i need it. better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

small but handy
My wife and I realized that it would be prudent to have a way to escape from a car in an emergency. the only thing we carry now is a flashlight and a small toolkit. The question was how best to break the side window when some physical limitation is or might be present. I read the reviews of the ResQMe tool, and ordered it. It arrived amazingly quickly, and is exactly as advertised. It is small, and can go on a key chain. In the event of an emergency, you just pull it from the key chain, which automatically unsheathes the seat belt cutter, which is razor sharp. Once the seat belt is cut, you place the device against the corner of a side car window and press. A spring loaded pin strikes and shatters the window. Don't worry, it self resets, so it can be used over and over again. In an emergency, it might be difficult to swing a hammer, and time will count. This seems like an inexpensive but effective investment in some piece of mind.

Salvavidas de bolsillo. Imprescindible.
