A taste of home for my mother
Ordered this bread (multiple times now) for my mother who is from the old country, and it truly delivered more than just carbs - it brought back memories. Shockingly fast delivery with USPS (wasn't expecting that reliability). The bread arrived fresh, soft and full of flavor. Supple texture with the right amount of chew and authentic taste that took her to her childhood. Review was written on her behalf as she has no modern technology.

Not the German rye I grew up with
I was disappointed with the bread. It had no taste and springy. I grew up eating bread from Chicago - Cicero and Baltic ryes which were like the bread we had in northern parts of Germany. Alas, they are no longer as the owner's kids no longer had interest in making these excellent breads when the parents past on. I like bread from Dimpflmeier bakery in Toronto, but no one in SW Michigan stocks it. I order a 1lb loaf via Amazon but it costs was $9 to ship it from Toronto. I'll keep looking online in hope of real German/Baltic rye breads. It would cost too much for my family to ship from Berlin.

Tastes great.
My 90-year-old mom really enjoyed this bread. Just like we used to have 30 years ago and more. She enjoyed it so much I bought it a second time.

Profit before product
I have purchased the German farmer bread from his company three times now. The bread is very good. The first time I ordered it I believe it was directly with the bakery. They took my order and told me when they had enough orders for the batch, they would make the bread. So, when they had enough orders, they made the bread in the morning and shipped it out in the afternoon. You were receiving the freshest product available. The last two times I could only order the bread through Amazon. The second time everything was fine same quality and no problems. The third time I ordered the bread it was a disaster. Either the company has gotten too big dealing with Amazon, or they are under a lot of pressure to make a big prophet. They must now have the bread pre-made for orders and when they get the order, they ship it out right away. The product you're now getting maybe several days old I would assume. My third order was shipped right away I don't know if the bread was made at the original bakery or if it is now done by a co-packer. The quality of the bread looks like it is still there. My complaint is that when they shipped the bread, they took a beautiful loaf of bread normally five six inches high and compressed it down to 3 inches to fit into a box that should never be used for this product. This was probably done to save money on shipping. You had a lifetime customer for this product but now I don't know if I'm even going to order from you again. I will be looking around to see if I can find another bakery that has a quality product equal to yours. To me this is not an acceptable way to do good business.Randy
