Van Weezer, the band’s fifteenth studio album, is produced bySuzy Shinn(Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy). The inspiration for this album derives from the deepest roots of Weezer - metal! What has metal got to do with Weezer, you ask? In his earliest years, Rivers was a huge KISS fan; Brian was a big Black Sabbath fan; Pat worshipped at the altar of Van Halen and Rush; Scott loved Slayer and Metallica. The last time this vein of harder rock was mined by Weezer was on their much-loved 2002 albumMaladroit; Van Weezeris primed to take that album's sonics many steps further.

Love Letter to 80s Hair Bands
Weezer is my ultimate favourite band and they did not disappoint me with this album. Rivers Cuomo and his producer did a really nice job making this sound authentic hair metal. It is really a love letter to all the great bands and anyone who appreciates Van Halen, Kiss and Metallica they'll likely enjoy this.

The Yang to OK Human's Yin
Van Weezers premise was set around the idea of big stadium rock sounding songs from the 1980s. After listening to it at least a dozen times since it was released, I've noticed many of the songs channel different bands sounds. I've heard Def Leppard, Van Halen, Pantera. In fact for Blue Dream, Rivers took the iconic riff from Ozzy's Crazy Train and wrote a new song around it, and it's probably the best song on the album, too.Hero, The Beginning of the End, The End of the Game, and I Need Some of That all preceded the release of Van Weezer and are all instant classics, they are now joined by Blue Dream, 1 More Hit, and Precious Metal Girl. Yet for toting 7 instant classics, Sheila Can Do It sounds like a hard hitting track off Pinkerton, and Weezer just today released All The Good Ones as a 5th single.Van Weezer hits hard and boasts the classic crunchy guitars everyone has come to know and love. 1 More Hit is probably the closest Weezer has come to a true heavy metal song, emulating the style of none other than Pantera and augmenting it with the much more Weezer sounding vocals and melodies.Where OK Human was all about introspection and soft beautiful melodies, Van Weezer is the flip side of the same coin, but make no mistake this is still the same coin. This is still iconic Weezer, among their very best work, and endlessly enjoyable. Van Weezer is the yang to OK Human's yin. At once identical in quality and enjoyablity, and polar opposites in sound and pacing.

A fun album
While Van Weezer doesn’t exactly live up to the expectations set by its inspiration, I still like this album. It’s a bit poppy for what it aimed to be, but that’s ok. Somehow the best song on this album has the line “pump it up into me please daddy please daddy”, which is more a testament to the band’s song writing than to River’s lyrical work.

Weezer proves that rock and roll is ETERNAL.
I was so extremely disappointed when they didn’t release this last year.. I needed that Weezer fix!But then, just when I thought I was almost there, they surprised us with the “OK HUMAN” album. So this year, I got double Weezer.Moving on, I really thought all these songs would mean a lack of quality somewhere but holy mother of GOODNESS... I was DEAD.. wrong.Moving on, I’ve always loved how open they are to being different. In this album, they’ve really repurposed a lot of past themes, their own, and some new as well.I am absolutely infatuated after hearing this album. They’ve really put out a lot of quality work lately with these last two albums. This one has a lot of songs that get stuck in your head, backing vocals and melody are absolutely stunning.Weezer did amazing work on this album and I’d really recommend it to anyone that’s willing to give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed 😎👌🔥

Back To The Weezer That I Love
I've been a Weezer fan from the start. I've collected all of their albums. I've followed them down every road that they have taken me. When I go back to listen to my favorites, I find the albums that speak to me most are Hurley, Green, Red, and Maladroit. I have already added this album to that list. It's great to sing along with in my car. The rock anthem style and tribute to Cuomo's favorite childhood rock stars really strikes a nerve with me. While I can appreciate the places Weezer went with OK Human, Black, etc., I'm so very happy to get back to hearing them play some good rock music once again. FANTASTIC!

VAN WEEZER - An Album Full of Hits...
Van Weezer is excellent. Beginning to end, no fat, no fluff, just more great Weezer instant classics. I told a friend the other day there are at least 5 hit singles on this album. And I think they all rock. You know an album is great when you are at the end of an album and you thought you just started listening! 311 Mosaic did the same thing to me. You just want more. I love bands that don't lose their edge with time. I'll say Weezer has a lot left in the tank! Enjoy.

Like all Weezer albums, the more you listen the more it grows on you.
After listening through the first few times, I really enjoyed tracks 1 through 5, but anything from 6 on kind of lost me. Now that it's been in my car for awhile I find myself loving tracks 7 and 8. All in all, an enjoyable album even if not as great as I hoped, but certainly better than several of their other albums. I'm happy having some of these be my summer jams to sing along with.

Van Weezer does Van Halen justice!
This is a great new album from Weezer with several Van Halen-esque style songs. Definitely one of Weezers better albums available.
