Tasty and heathly
These whole black garlic are well aged and tasty. They are smaller ones, about 1 3/4" in diameter. They have a complex and savory flavor. Sweet and garlicky, and with an umami taste to it. The texture is soft, sticky and similar to that of dates and marshmallow. They are tasty to eat without the pungent taste and smell of raw garlic. Though peeling the garlic skin takes a bit of patience. Anyway, they are rich in antioxidants and have great health benefits.These come in a clear plastic bottle with a foil seal under the screw-on lid. The quality seems good. Free of preservatives. Mine has a manufacture date of just 2 months ago and a shelf life of 24 months. Product of India. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with these. Savory, sweet and garlicky but without the pungency of raw garlic. It is a unique, tasty superfood. Worth giving it a try. Good product.

Deep, Delicious Flavor
We love fermented garlic and use it in lots of dishes, on salads, over steamed veg., etc. Our favorite way to use it is to smash it into salted butter & smear it on over meat/steaks/hamburgers/lamb/chicken/etc. as it rests. This creates a quick & delicious “sauce”.These have a garlic & balsamic type of flavor. It is garlic but so much more. All the sharp flavor notes are knocked off the garlic & it is a very rich flavor. It is easy to smash with a fork or slice it. It’s very soft – kind of like a ripe fig.These are unpeeled garlic heads. Yes, they are a bit of a pain to peel because they are sticky.

Bit different from regular garlic
The jar was a lot bigger than I was expecting it to be- it's seriously a good amount and will last maybe about a month. This was our first experience with black garlic, but my family is 'more is best' in terms of garlic in our cooking. I wasn't sure what to expect, but upon opening the jar, there was a strong scent of garlic, which was a good sign. They're still wrapped in the dry, white bulb husks, but the cloves are a black, slightly wrinkly looking, and a bit squishy feeling, like they might have been pickled or something.Their texture is kind of gelatinous, like a soft chew candy. They have a vinegar and sweet flavor that overpowers the garlic surprisingly. My husband chopped up a whole bulb and cooked it with some fried rice, and it didn't seem to add much flavor, to be honest, definitely no garlic. If you're a fan of garlic and like that flavor, it doesn't appear like you'll get much of that from these, but if you're looking for a tangy sweet flavor in the form of a chewy garlic clove, expect that from this product.
