2.64oz Bao Long Pho Ga Chicken Soup Seasoning Cubes (Pack of 4)

I use this to make spicy Pho. These cubes make a base that is closest to the authentic ones I have had at restaurants here in the bay area.

Prepare to be surprised. This is the real deal. Have been enjoying this for years. Now that it's soup weather kick it up a couple of notches and savor this delightful goodie.

I have been using these for years ever since I first discovered them in a local Asian market. But they were always sold out quickly and months would go by when my stash of them could not be replenished. At that time I could not find them on Amazon or other online sites I searched. So I was delighted to find them now stocked by this seller. They are well packed, exactly as described, and the expiration date is over a year away (though in my experience they remain good for longer than that.)Each box has four foil-wrapped cubes that are like the bouillion mixes we are familiar with. But these have their own rich flavor, and it has supercharged my soups and stews. For a big (about 6-7 quart) pot of stew, I use 2 or 3 cubes in addition to chicken bouillion, mushroom bouillion (both from Better Than Bouillion and also recommended), a couple of teaspoons of sugar for balance, and a bit of sriracha for sparkle. This is in addition to other flavor enhancers like garlic, shallots, sweet onions, well-simmered marrow bones, etc. I recommend adding one cube during the marrow bone simmer and the others near the end to ensure volatiles aren't lost. I also make smaller batches of a truly delicious rice/chicken/ginger porridge ("Jook"), which needs two cubes plus a bit of sugar and chicken and mushroom boullions to taste. Because the cubes do contain some salt (see below), I never have to add any extra.These cubes do have some monosodium glutamate, the third ingredient listed after salt (total sodium, 730 mg) and a little sugar (4.4 g). Given the volumes I am preparing, I don't really mind that but others might. The other ingredients listed are onion, garlic, star anise, cinnamon, clover (?!), ginger and black pepper.The cubes can dry out somewhat after being unsealed, and while this doesn't seem to affect the taste much, it does make the foil harder to peel off. So I recommend keeping them sealed.

I love this product. Been in my kitchen cabinet for years. I use it in many soup dishes. Always a hit for my family or parties with friends. If you don’t cook Vietnamese food, you can still use it for chicken noodle soup or any savory based soup.
